“One of our family's favorite restaurants, from our 3-year-old to our teenager to my wife and I. I see a recent review saying the place isn't as good under the new management and I really disagree. The food is just as good and I like the new menu items, especially the ramen. Let's be honest; as much as we have always loved Matsui, their service has never been their selling point. The staff has always been very friendly but not all that attentive. You have to flag waiters down when you want something and sometimes give them a reminder. I can be particular about service but it's never bothered me at Matsui. I guess because they have always treated me and my family very kindly. The owners usually come out to say hi and make sure we enjoyed the meal and we just feel welcome. I wish the new owners much luck and success.”

“This dining experience was a pleasant surprise. The bistro is tucked away in a strip mall, but yet has a romantic and comfortable feel on entry. The staff is warm hearted, friendly and very knowledgeable of all the offerings. I starting with sweet potato and ham biscuits, then had the pork medallions and grits for dinner, ending with apple cobbler and vanilla ice cream. Everything was amazingly prepared and flavorful without over doing any of the seasonings. Some how I found my anticipation growing with each selection, to include cocktails. The only shortfall was in the presentation. But, any disappointment in presentation faded on first bite. This stop is well worth the journey and is on my short list to visit again in the future.”

Historically and enviably, its customers are well-known to become regulars in this gem of a restaurant, started by Italian sisters with family recipes. We have not found a restaurant in our end of Fairfax County that can prepare sole fish the way the chef at Via Veneto can. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, but the one water critter I do not enjoy eating is fish...except at Via Veneto! Any way they fix sole, it is inspired and delectable, and my family and I relish the evening that includes it. A typical side dish in most Italian restaurants is a dish of pasta topped with a tomato sauce. The chef's sauce at Via Veneto is so full of flavor that my mouth is watering as I write this. The day after dining, my pasta leftovers never make it to the microwave for reheat, instead they go down in the same chilled state. Yum! The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. Bring your friends and a good appetite, load the address into your GPS, & be prepared to have a delightful evening!”
