“Love love love McCabes. It’s my favourite bar uptown Waterloo. The staff are incredible and treat you just like family. The drink prices are reasonable and the food portions are just right. The music nights are very special with Jessie Pitcher playing most weeks as well as other special guests on Saturdays. Definitely worth visiting. I have had multiple events there since they opened and have always had a good time. Look out for Karen, Taylor & Adam. They are the best servers in the place.”

I have visited this restaurant a few times and I get this experience every time my wife and I dine there. Customer service is 51% of the reason we come back to this place and the other 49% is the unbeatable food. It's always prompt and without flaws. Red House has perfected high-end dining without the pomp and pretentiousness of most fine dining establishments. “love love love love their ma la tang and noodle soups. been coming here for 3 years and a bit sad they stopped doing rock paper scissors for the discount but the food is so tasty and you actually get a good amount of veggies. fav place within the waterloo plaza vicinity. highly recommend the hot and sour noodle soup and tomato beef noodle soup. the ma la tang combos are also very good (come for the daily special!) only thing that kind of bothers me is having to pick out the sichuan pepper corns. wished they used a spice tea pack thing when they cook their soups so I don’t accidentally numb my mouth by biting into a peppercorn”

“The food was of good quality and the size of the dishes were small tapas-style, so you could try many items without overfilling. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of what dishes/sauces contain gluten and they do have a gluten-free soy sauce, if you ask for it. It's a small space, so you might have a bit of a wait for a table. As the space is small, they do have a time limit for how long you can be at the table, but the food comes out quickly and the staff come by frequently to take new orders.”

“Excellent pie at a reasonable price. A small pie (maybe 5" in diameter) was roughly 6$ including tax, and well-made, too! The atmosphere is also great, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. And if you're a student, they have a Wednesday special where you get 20% off for lunch/early dinner. I'll definitely be coming back.”

“The service is as quick as can be expected I suppose, but the store gets disproportionately busier as it gets later in the night. In university territory so it is understandable but it would be nice to see some kind of queue system set up for people waiting for their orders, or maybe more screens throughout the restaurant to let you know about what orders are being processed as a given time.”
