“A great coffee shop, good brew and quick service. It's attached to the grocery store, but it opens earlier, and you can get in through the side entrance. Their coffee and espresso drinks are very good, the only downside is their pastries and baked goods are just OK. However, there is a bakery at the back of the grocery store that has excellent pastries; unfortunately the grocery store doesn't open til 8am. I wish Beanery could work out a deal to get pastries from that bakery, but I'm sure they've tried and there is some complication preventing it. For coffee however, it's definitely the best place I've found in Alameda.”

“The pizza here is as close to Chicago style you'll get in the Bay Area. The cornmeal in the crust makes it taste AMAZING with a nice crisp crunch. “Amazing!! There are not many places you can get super authentic Chinese food and really good sushi in Alameda! This place is a hidden gem. It can be a little cold inside during the winter, but worth it for the great food and really nice staff. Also great take out two in one spot! “I have to give credit where credit is due. They get it right. The pork was tender and sweet, flavorful and moist. The chicken katsu was good as was the BBQ chicken, however it was only well made, there was no real BBQ sauce to send it over the top. They should get some, and damn the menu interpretation. I have six blue ribbons for my BBQ, and when chicken has great BBQ sauce on it, it's more appreciated than when it is on ribs. Wendy was talkative and stylish and not reserved like many cashiers. She made sure my order was not only correct but all the sides that I was supposed to get I got. This is less and less the case in places you go, as fewer and fewer people give a care about what they do outside of lip service. I got a lot of fresh, well prepared food at a good price, and I recommend you go there and give it a try. You'll notice I don't make that particular recommendation in a lot of my reviews.
