Poor service as well People who had come after us were getting their food before we did The waiter was supposed to get the manager but the manager never showed up! “The location is beautiful. Eating outside by the lake is a perfect way to spend a lunch with friends and family. The food was good. The fish and chips in particular was on point. The clam chowder bowl was average at best. The sourdough was under baked. I had the Cali turkey club sandwich. It was good, but the aioli hurt more than it helped. Can't go wing with the garlic fries, delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. I dinged one star for the kids meals being $12. In particular, the straight-from-the-box Kraft Mac and cheese. I'll be back, and if recommend it to anyone in the area. *Note: you'll have to pay $12 for day parking to enter the area, but they'll take $12 off the bill with the coupon you get when paying for the parking.”

“This place is great! On our recent Tahoe trip we ate here once for dinner and then again for lunch. They were very busy when we went for dinner but we got a table and our food quickly. Our meal was great and we thought the won ton soup was excellent. Our lunch visit found the place not so busy but the food was again excellent. The lunch special was a great value at $7.95 and included soup and a small salad. The food here rivals any I've had in Thailand. The service is business like but pleasant and efficient. Probably the best bang for your buck in Tahoe.”

“Amazing barbecue! We found it so Yelp. They have great reviews, but there weren't that many cars in front during dinner, so we were kinda discouraged. We passed on it that night, but the next day we decided to try it out. Boy were we wrong to pass it up! It was some of the best BBQ I've ever had, including my own, and it was quite affordable! Unlike the other, overpriced BBQ restaurant, Sonney's, down the street, where we ate at last time where we had horrible service and we left hungry after spending a bunch of money, at Chicken in a Barrel, we left full and satisfied!”

“Had a great time with my hubby and our 6-yr old. Sat at the bar to watch them making pizza - best seats in the house! The chefs are pros - knocking those pizzas out fast and they were friendly and chatted with us as they did it. And constantly tidying up. Hubby had the shrimp sandwich - delicious. Kid had a cheese n pineapple pizza and I had pepperoni and pineapple pizza. Just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Delicious. Good country music playing. Will be back!”

“I really wanted to try BBQ in the Lake Tahoe area because I am used to excellent BBQ from Texas. There are a lot of options on the menu. I wish I had had more time to try a variety of the foods offered. Sonny's food was wonderfully tasty. The brisket melted in my mouth. But best of all was the wait staff. I have forgotten her name, but her husband is the chef. Her pleasant, happy attitude enhanced my experience. I can tell they are proud of this restaurant and that they enjoy their jobs. We sat outside on the patio and had a beautiful day and sky above us. Definitely make this a place to stop. You will be thanking all of us for recommending it.”

“A local hot spot! This place is always busy so make sure you pan to wait a bit... but let me tell you it is worth the wait. The food and service are amazing! Portions are huge and the service is spot on! This is a breakfast lunch place and we tried it all. Their omelets are unique, they cook the meat and veggies right into the egg and wrap it around a cheese center. The turkey Ortega is made very well though I think they could have grilled the bread a bit longer. The burger is huge! My sister could only eat half so we recommend sharing. Fries were crispy and delicious. When you arrive make sure your entire party is with you, as they won’t seat you until everyone is there. I saw kids there enjoying their food so it’s definitely kid friendly.”

“First time here and we're glad we came. We enjoyed the BBQ baby back ribs, chili beans and macaroni. Ribs were really good. We also had the flight of beers consisting of 5 beers of our choosing. I went for the lighter beers so the wife would try them. Good stuff! I went home with 2 of their beer glasses. $5 a glass that has their name on it. Hard to beat that. We'll be back.”
