“This review is long overdue! My bf and I had spent the night in Arcata and decided to grab some breakfast before we left. Wow what a great decision that was. To begin, we walked in and not two mins later there was a line out the door-we missed the crowd. We chatted with the very nice people in line and looked at all the wonderful breads. As we were paying for our bagel sandwiches one of the staff members gives us the loaf of bread we were admiring! Already enjoying the atmosphere that seemed palpably aligned, we ate our food. The bread melted in our mouths, the bagels were delicious and crafted with good ingredients and their chai was the best I’ve ever had. We love this place and think about it often. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks Los Bagels for a wonderful memory.”

“One of the best outdoor eating locations in Arcata. That's not to say they don't have wonderful indoor dining as well they have high ceilings and really good ventilation. Definitely during the pandemic this is an amazing place to eat and feel very comfortable. The burgers are amazing whether you pick chicken veggie or beef. Definitely try their fries and they have an amazing selection of beers, ciders and wine. Head out to the back area and play some cornhole and sit under one of many pergolas. Excellent spot.”

“Excellent meal, wonderful fish tacos, fast service, great customer service. Thank you, we loved the hot sauce crispy fish tacos. Best rice and beans. Burritos looked great.”

“My go to spot for sitting down with my laptop and having a delicious drink. Lattes are a bit pricey, but worth it for the taste and quality of ingredients. Getting house made coconut milk is included in the price if you’re dairy free! The blueberry muffins are killer, as is the Portuguese rice pudding. I always feel welcomed by the friendly staff, too!”

“We traveled to Arcata for my birthday and to visit with our daughter who is a student at Cal Poly Humboldt. We decided to visit Mothers Cooking Experience to have brunch but also to support a black owned business. Once inside, we looked over the menu and order our meals at the counter. We found a table and sipped on our mimosa, while we waited on our meals. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with fried chicken. The chicken was tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection and the pancakes were just as scrumptious! My husband had one of the best sellers..fried chicken, black beans, toast, potatoes and eggs. Everything was finger licking good!! We will be going back on our next visit. Thank you Alba for making us feel at home.”

“I mean what can you say, if you want a bomb burrito this is the place! I can’t answer for all of them but I can for those looking for vegan/plant based options. The vegan burritos are legit! Added jalapeños and verde sauce it really hit the spot. It is take out only at this time but as long as the food is great that’s all that matters. They have drinks to go as well! Lots of vegan, vegetarian and regular options for all!”

“This place was so great I came back the very next day. Day 1 we got the vegan Mac and cheese and vegan McGriddle sandwich. Day 2 we got the vegan nachos and enchiladas. All four meals were delicious! Super flavorful, very large portions, fresh ingredients.”

“Wow, I was blown away by how good the clam chowder was. The perfect balance between creaminess and broth. The contents inside the clam chowder are perfectly cut in size and very flavorful. We were tempted to order two quarts of it because it was just that good! The fish and chips on the other hand.. It was pretty mediocre. It wasn't bad, but the breading was not crispy at all and the fries were very soggy as well. Maybe it could be because of the to-go container it was in? Either way, it was not very satisfying.”

“Well holy moly me oh my, this place is DELICIOUS. I got the hot soup, with ramen noodles, miso, the baked pork (SO FLAVORFUL) and veggies, and I’m not ashamed to say it, but I did not take a single breath in between bites. This ramen was SO GOOD, I’d come all the way from Phoenix Arizona to cali JUST for this ramen. The people were nice, the restaurant is very clean and well decorated. I enjoyed my stay so so much. I got the green curry as well (for a late night feast) and if the quality is anything like the noodles, I’m ready to fall in love with this Curry as well.”

“Stars is a Arcata and Humboldt classic. Good standard burgers. Not one of those places trying to serve enormous ones you can't fit into your mouth. Good grass fed local beer. Love this burger joint. This is where all the university students come to and has been a staple in the community for many years. Cool bonus, Humboldt Alumni that worked here at Stars Burgers was the creator of the famous SpongeBob series. Awesome burgers and shakes.”

“Arrived Sunday morning before 9:00 am. Greeted, seated with water immediately. Waited 10 minutes for drink order to be taken. No decaf machine drinks, so they brewed a fresh pot for my husband. He loved it! My latte with an extra shot was very weak. It took another 10 minutes. Long wait for food. 9:38 it arrived. Complete breakfast: over medium eggs a bit hard. Gravy tasted bacon bases, sweeter than the average sausage gravy. No jam offered. Bacon tasty, but small cut portion. Side potatoes were good, crispy, and a great vehicle for the organic catsup to get into your mouth! The corned beef Benedict gets a mixed review. The eggs were poached perfectly. But the hollandaise sauce was flavorless and skimpy. The kale green were tender, someone stayed up late massaging the greens! The corned beef hash had very little flavor. When you're salting the corned beef for taste, something is wrong. Cottage cheese side option is nice, served in a small glass jar. Our bill before tax was just shy of $50. The location is historic for Arcata. My husband's good friend's mother cooked in the "Tower" in the 60's. Take time to appreciate the curve glass windows in the Tower, and the overall architecture of the building. The rooms and tables are comfortable, but those chairs! They make the wait hard to endure. I had to take walks around and outside. The bathroom is spacious and clean.”

“Great beers and great food. Sat outside on the dog friendly patio. Elvis really liked it and gave it four paws up which is his highest rating. Service was excellent - friendly, attentive and quick. We had a Hefeweizen & the hazy IPA. Both were very good. I really enjoyed the Yumi hazy which was very fruit lemon forward. For food, I had the French dip & the Boss had the patty melt. Excellent! The onion rings were hot / just out of the frier. We also had a cup of the clam chowder which was really really good. Humbolt Brews is a super venue. Highly recommended. You should go!”

“DO NOT miss this new shining star! Quality, small batch and attention to detail come to mind. Stop for a delicious craft beer and a well crafted panini sando. Ruben, BLT or crock monsieur and you won’t leave unimpressed. Oak Deli & Brewery has a bright future.”

“Great food. Visited with my family. All 7 of us loved eating here. We had fish and chips, sandwiches and pizza. The tomato basil soup was worthy of 5 Michelin stars! Great vibes inside. Truly a lost coast authentic eatery.”

“Very delicious steaks and amazing brussels sprout (one of the best I have ever had). This would be a very good steakhouse in any city, and may be one of the best restaurants in the area.”

“The environment was good! The service was fast and great (even if there were a lot of to-go orders). Their pho was good! However, it couldn’t be compared to those great pho places in Bay Area! The price was lower than Bay Area tho! The disappointing part was that their lemongrass chicken didn’t really taste like chicken to me! :( Credit cards are accepted!”

“This place is a classic. It's a whole vibe. Late night munchies. Get the spicy chicken masterpiece and don't look back. If they're out of that get the don's delight with chicken and it's essentially the same thing. Wash it down with a donut and ice cream. You're welcome.”

“We had an incredible experience. The staff and owner were so nice and made some chips in new oil so they would no be fried in the same oil as other foods with gluten. They were very aware about allergens and catered to our needs without any problems. The food was amazing, great tacos for cheap on taco Tuesday and the Huarache dish is amazing. Just passing through but would eat here any time we’re in Arcata!! Highly recommend for eats and service”

“delicious burritos & sushi. getting the food is kind of confusing at first. (idk about the coffee place because I have not gone there). There is a big line that goes past the restaurants & also some shelves that have food & drinks already. You pay at the cashier at the end of the line. At the burrito place, they make it in front of you like at subway. but there are a few preset options to choose from and then you pick the salsa. the potato korroke burger is so delicious. However, it is pricy.”

“Had a dinner here with two friends while working, took us a minute to find the olla e for some Reason but after we sat down I had a tasty vegan burrito that was way bigger than my forearm. I could only eat 1/3 of it cuz I wasn’t that hungry, had a michelada too. I took the burrito back to the hotel and it sat in my fridge for two days then I ate it last night and I think maybe it got mouldy or something cuz I had a stomach ache afterwards. 5/5 stars. Thanks for vegan options”

“A Humboldt staple! Very delicious, tender, flavorful crepes. High quality ingredients, reasonable prices. Good service. It gets very busy on the weekends during brunch hours as to be expected. No reservations just walk in. I ordered the Poulet and my friend ordered the Got your Goat and we got a cinnamon and butter crepe for dessert to share (although we ended up being too full and taking it home, it was still good heated up later).”

“This has been a great local establishment. We have been coming here regularly since we moved to the area to go to the University. They are always consistent, clean, friendly, and yummy. They had a wonderful interior remodel recently, completely changing the vibe of the place. A welcome change. It seems they are going for more of an event space, the stage feels more highlighted, the bar stands out much more with pretty RGB lights behind the glass. The food is great as always, and the menu seemed to be their classic same. Our server told us that it was still under the same owners, which is great. One of the best things about going here for Dinner service is their super amazing special butter they serve with the bread. You can also buy it in local stores, it is super yummy hard to describe! My wife always gets their Seafood Pasta dish and loves it. This time I had the Chicken Parmesan which was wonderful. They have a good selection of local beers which I always appreciate from a local spot. We love Mazzoti's, nice view out on the Arcata Plaza, which is just nonstop entertainment usually! A nice spot for lunch as well!”
