“The single waiter welcomed my wife and me into the dining room and greeted us profusely, even though we were here for the first time. He was very responsive and prompt with service. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers, many of which were obviously regulars. The breakfast combinations were very affordable for a restaurant on Millbrae's main restaurant street. Portions were modest, but the quality of the food was good. I would come again.”

“Great service paired with delicious Chinese food, which is a bit unusual, so I was pleasantly surprised. We tried a beef dish that was absolutely delicious, as it was very soft and tender. I like the fact that i didn’t find the soup with too much condiment which could probably would be not so testy for some people. If you have been eating so much junk food and looking to get back on track on your healthy diet. This is the place. The only complain I have is the Thai ice tea. They made extra super sweet. So make sure you ask the to put less sugar.”

“Zen Bistro easily has the best hot sushi in the Bay Area. Their sauce and ingredients blow out everyone else. Although not cheap, they sometimes have a half off on some days, which is enticing. I've been here for many years and the staff has generally been very friendly and attentive. Only once did I have a nasty waitress a long time ago. Food-wise, I highly suggest getting their fried mushrooms and tofu. They have a lot of delicious small dishes, which I've not seen in other J-restaurants. Only thing is their kara-age is not as fluffy or tasty as I used to like it. Overall, I can highly recommend this place for any occasion.”

“See update.... Attended event in the large private dining room, which is (helpfully) outfitted with a screen, projector and basic audio system. Food is consistently good, whether they are serving a table of two, or a room of 32. It's clear that quality and good service are considered a priority. Leave a little extra time to find parking, or use the big Safeway lot one block west. Update: November 2018. New ownership, prices increased, not quite as friendly.”

“The prices are fair and the portions are generous for a restaurant in this area of Millbrae, where there is so much competition with too many Cantonese Chinese and Mandarin Chinese restaurants opening and closing or changing ownership without changing names, a common practice of Chinese owners to hold onto faithful patrons. Service was quick and friendly. The dining room was clean. The menu was extensive. My Wife enjoyed the seafood & tofu clay pot, a saucy standout with plentiful shrimp, slices of fish, calamari, tofu and more. There was no filler of yellow onion, a trick lesser restaurants would do to give you more with less.”
