“Channon is the bomb! This is a hidden gem. Loved the sprinkled flavors of west Indian influenced dishes. We enjoyed the different options. We found that they have just the right amount of different ideas we are looking for and the fried sweet plantains are a beautiful staple. Would come back and soon! Dinner please!”

“The most authentic and delicious New Orleans style food you’ll find in D.C.! I had the crawfish grilled cheese with the Tabasco aioli and it was so delicious I could’ve had 13. My friend tried the jambalaya and said she needs to go to NOLA asap now! The flavors and hospitality from the chef and his wife are unmatched! The most flavorful food in town”

“We had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional Black-owned restaurant in Washington, D.C., and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and inviting, with unique decor that made us feel like royalty. The chef's personalized menu was incredible, and we, as a family of four, devoured our meals in less than 30 minutes – it was that delicious! We enjoyed the crab cakes, egg rolls, lamb chops, and garlic wings. Each dish was so mouth-wateringly good that it made us want to "slap your mama"! I highly recommend this place, a perfect 10 out of 10. If you're visiting the Washington, D.C. area and looking for an incredible eatery with a great atmosphere and phenomenal food, this is the place to be.”

“Fast and good customer service goes a long way as this was my first experience at this restaurant. My Philly Steak sandwich did not disappoint and my kids enjoyed the Hawaiian Pineapple Pizza. I am certain to go back and try the Groundnut Stew next. I highly recommend.”

“Very good food, be specific about how you want your sandwiches! I ordered a meatball sub, was pretty good but they slit the meatballs in half cheating me out of a real traditional meatball sub! So When you order this sandwich, make sure you specify that you want whole meatballs on your sub, for what they charge for it! It's well within reason!”

Their menu options range from laid-back classics to fancy dishes, so there's something for everyone. The service is inviting and friendly. My meal came out hot and delicious, almost like I whipped it up myself... only way better! Can't wait to go back and try more tasty treats.”

“When I say RUN...I mean get there immediately!!! The food she drinks were AMAZING!!! Food comes out fresh and hot so give them some time. The LAMB CHOPS WERE COOKED CORRECTLY!!! I like mine medium and the sauce was great, I asked for sauce on the side. I went 2 days in a row because the food and service was great. My male bar tender/server named Che-Kay ( sorry if I messed up his name) was very professional. He made some great drinks.”

“Grateful for more food options in Ward 7 and close to Ward 8, I’m glad Maizal is open. Inside the Skyland development, it’s one of several fast-casual options. The inside is new and beautiful with two murals on the walls, two clean restrooms, and plenty of seating. The menu is large and includes tacos, enchilada, empanadas, etc. I ordered the curry chicken empanada with chimichurri sauce. It wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was decent. Service was unusually slow, but there’s plenty of parking with a large lot just outside.”

“Intimate dining with coatracks at entry and a very subtle outdoor entry - from the outside you’d have no idea what deliciousness awaits you. Once inside, it has about five tables and the rest was sushi bar seating of about 10. Fitting maybe 20 total in the small but cozy room. Thw dining experience was about 2.5 hours. The food came in about eight plates, and was delicious. We got caviar and uni (sea urchin) to top off our meal, about $100 ea. Reservations have to be made a month or more in advance but it is SO worth it. We went for our anniversary tonight and the service was amazing, the server explained each course and even brought us champagne for our special occasion! There was some special diplomat there so the menu was celebrating the owner’s love of whisky and had complementary whisky drinks and little pins, a notebook and pen, and a little wooden box housing chopsticks we could take home. Nice little gifts. The chocolates were great too. All courses were delicious and if you’re looking for a great sushi experience; we highly recommend this spot!”

“The food was good, not great. Seems like a very reliable place where everything is good but nothing is particularly interesting or flavorful. The service was very good and the staff was really friendly and attentive. My biggest complaint is they charged nearly $4 for four pieces of plain focaccia.”

“We have been meaning to try this local spot for a while. So glad we did! Our food was delicious! The staff was patient and helpful. It was nice outside so we sat on their lawn and my kids played behind their veggie garden. Such a lovely spot. We will be back! We had: salmon patty sandwich and tuna salad sandwich. They were both very good and my family can’t wait to go back! The toaster brioche buns put them over the top. And they had our favorite kettle chips!”

“The food was great ! I purchased the saucey wings and the turkey burger AKA "Thanks Giving Burger" cranberry sauce on that homemwade burger was genius. The sauce on those wings was the perfect combination of spice and sweetness. Great to have a new black business in town.”
