One thing people mistake coming into the company is the belief that they will be armed. “My daughter attended her junior prom at this venue. The setup was beautiful. They used different rooms for the various activities they had planned for the night. They also used the front seating cafe area for water and snacks and as a quiet space for those with sensory issues. If you're looking for a nice venue that offers a little bit of something for all ages and activities this would be a great option.”

“We were driving through Des Moines and were searching for a coffee shop - Zanzibar's stood out as a great place to try and we were so glad we stopped here!! Incredible mocha breve and sweet cream coffee - my only regret is that I didn't order multiples!! The flavor of the beans were crafted and curated so well - I wish we lived closer because this place would be a staple for us if we lived in the Des Moines area. Oh, and did I mention the banana bread?? Seriously amazing - some of the best I've ever had - great flavor, wasn't dry, and a substantial sized slice. The place was packed out too, so you knew from the start that it was a great place. The baristas were focused yet friendly and I felt comfortable asking questions if needed. The next time we're in the area, we'll definitely be back and I'll know to double up on my order too!”

“I think that this boba shop is SO cute. I took pictures the moment I stepped through the door. Overall, I think this place is good. I have had 2 drinks here and they were decent, not my favorite drink, but still fulfilled my cravings. The thing that keeps me coming back is the K-dogs! I’m so happy that Iowa finally has some K-dogs in the area. I have tried the full cheese and half/half hot cheeto dog, but I prefer the full cheese one! Will definitely come back for snacks!”

I highly recommend the farmers eggs with a little hot sauce, I added mushroom and jalapeno and they didn't even add any cost to my meal for it. Our waitress was handling a room full of customers with grace and efficiency. Coffee was good, the biscuits and gravy my husband ordered was good. We were shocked at how economical our little date out was at the end. We can't wait to go back!”

“Great new addition to the area! The Neapolitan style pizza was good, crust was really good. Great selection on drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Clean, beautifully designed space. I love the open kitchen with the bar seating right there looking into the action- something you don’t see much of unless you’re in a big city. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service, from entering the restaurant to leaving. It wasn’t welcoming or attentive, especially for how many employees were working/standing around. We had to get up and ask to place our order after who knows how long we waited. The other downside is it’s not very kid/family-friendly, which is surprising for being in the suburbs and for the handful of other tables in there that had babies and toddlers. As adventurous as our one year old is, there was no kids menu or small bites that would be suitable as a meal. We will definitely be back because the pizza is so good. I really hope the service will improve and Franka, along with its employees, will be more welcoming to a couple bringing their child along for a nice dinner. Thank you for bringing a locally-owned restaurant to the area!”

“We visited on opening day and were very impressed. The restaurant is fresh and clean, warm and well-lit. We started with the Vietnamese Egg Rolls which were savory and hot. The Fried Shrimp roll is unique and delicious with a creamy filling, and the fried chicken wings were lightly battered with a flavorful coating. The Vietnamese Noodle Salad was an interesting mix of flavors and textures coated with the house sauce that was very satisfying and delicious. The owners said the food is authentic Vietnamese. We have no frame of reference for that, but we can say it very good food and a fine addition to the central Iowa dining scene. We'll definitely eat here again!”

“My cat Taffy and I visited Starbucks this morning. The line was long but it was well worth the wait. Taffy enjoyed hanging out the window as we waited to get to the window. She's been to Starbuck a few times now so she knows there is a treat coming her way. When we got to the window Taffy tried her hardest to join the girls working. They complimented her eyes and made her feel extra pretty. Taffy loved her treat and I loved my sandwich and coffee! My iced cloud caramel macchiato was perfect and my sandwich was hot and delicious!
