“I live in the area and have visited Oriental Express 4 or 5 times in the past couple months. I have to say that their Lo Mein is very good, as is the Teriyaki chicken. The orange chicken, and the honey chicken were also tasty (af). The fried rice was quite bland.. and the boneless ribs are different from what's served in a typical Chinese establishment. HOWEVER, the Bubble Tea was not good AT ALL. It was watery, and tasted like watered down Strawberry milk. Maybe it was an off day.. I don't know. But I won't be buying it there again. It's decent, and I'd do it again.”

“We came for dinner before seeing a play at the Penobscot theater across the street. We've been looking for a good local Thai place and this did not disappoint. My husband and I both got Thai iced teas that were great, the appetizer Thai dumplings were a stand out and were amazing (with a really yummy dipping sauce too!), I got the pad Thai, which had thinner noodles than I had before -- and it was really delicious!”

Dining companion loved the Mediterranean wrap said it's fried eggplant was best she'd ever had. Service was great, atmosphere was perfect...l can't wait to go back. “This is an ok wash. I'm not sure why washes in Maine are so shabby compared to washes elsewhere. The undercarriage here is really not that great, like most all washes in the area. A wash could become real popular if it were to have a dedicated undercarriage spraybar installed on a dedicated pump, to really blast ALL of the underside of the car off for at least 30-45 sec. But, like this wash there are not really any I've found in the area yet, that have a decent undercarriage cleaning system.”

“Absolutely amazing! Carefully combined flavors for unique and exquisite tastes. All dishes were delicious. Owner definitely takes good care of this place and properly trains his employees. There are plenty of outlets for laptop working, however they do get busy during lunch time so limit your time there so others can sit and enjoy their meals. Bathroom was cozy and clean. I apologize for the high-eaten food pictures. Highly recommend 10/10.”

“We were skeptical about this place since it was used as a homeless shelter during the pandemic shutdown. But upon staying there for a night recently, we were very pleased with the room (we had the king suite room) and great service from the staff. They even let us look at the room before making the reservation. Location is great since there are food options within walking distance and the Fielder's Choice mini golf and ice cream shop is right next door. We will be staying here again.”

“The Spinach artichoke dip was the BEST I’ve had! And the bread bowl it came in was so good!!! My fiancé got the Mac & cheese which was a keeper. So yummy! Very smoky and creamy. I got the Strawberry Basil Salad which was good, however the dressing was really tart. The salad could use a salty element like feta cheese. Then, perfection. I’ll definitely come back!”

“WHAT A BRILLIANT CONCEPT!!! A barbecue joint with drinking AND ax throwing! How is it possible no one thought of this before?!? Last night I had the tomahawk steak. It took an hour and a half to cook and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Since I had the steak last night, I had to come back tonight to get the ribs. I was not disappointed! Tender, juicy and just enough smokey flavor to take it to the next level. I strongly recommend the Texas barbecue sauce. Enough heat to let you know it's there but not so much that you can't taste the food. A perfect balance. I'm not sure if I've ever seen such a happy staff. I was fortunate enough to meet Greg, the owner. He and I talked for about an hour and he took the entire experience from good to great. Nothing I love better than finding a great local place with a spectacular concept and even better food.”

“Coming from the GM of a firehouse in North Carolina I was home visiting this month in Maine and stopped at this location to try it out and let me tell you!!! “Just a heads up for the local area. Starbucks in Bangor is only making "pour overs" if a bag of that coffee you want is already open. Which means, if Komodo Dragon us on tap, you can also get it as a pour over . . . why you would do that I can't fathom . . but there it is. I prefer two of their dark roasts. French and Italian. I rarely deviate from that. I don't think Starbucks even sells French Toast anymore and they rarely have Italian Roast on tap . . . and since my alternative of getting a "pour over" is no longer an option, I guess I'll be making my coffee exclusively at home. They sell both at Target in Whole Bean. They only sell Italian at Starbucks itself. I'll miss stopping in for a cup of my favorite coffee.”

“Off the Charts. Bangor is blessed with a great restaurant community and Utopia is a great addition! They knock it out of the park on all fronts--food, service and atmosphere. The menu is eclectic and everything is good. The wine list is fantastic and tailored to the food. There's also an excellent selection of craft beers. A Med inspired menu and the skill to pull it off is not to be missed. Pricewise this is a great value as this was akin to a better Portland restaurant meal at a far better price. If you are looking for a change in pace and taste, please give Utopia a try.”
