“We heard this was the best breakfast joint in Gaylord from several people, I think they were correct. The place is so colorful and fun to be in. We love the mish mash of chairs and tables. The food is outstanding. We had a mimosa from their build your own mimosa bar, avocado toast breakfast sandwich, and the cinnamon bun french toast. All of was perfect. My only complaint would be the wait time. It was a bit busy when we got there so it's totally understandable it took a bit to get a table but even after getting seating and ordering it was almost 45 minutes before the food came out, and by that time the place was half empty. Otherwise Abi's bistro was great. Recommended.”

“Hey yall, do yourself a favor and check this place out. Had the sampler (1 meat and 1 sausage) with a side (coleslaw) and it was AMAZING. Possibly the best jalapeño sausage in the state! Currently only 2 tables with 4 chairs each for those that eat in. Small restaurant, big/great flavor. Thanks for the great meal, I'll be back!”

“On January 2nd, 2021 I came to Arlene's for a carryout breakfast. I had the Country Skillet and my wife the Ham & Cheese omelet. The food was delicious; you could tell it was cooked from scratch, it was prepared quickly and the owner was very friendly. Most importantly, it wasn't greasy at all (as some breakfasts at a restaurant can be). There was so much we couldn't finish; the perfect meal to start our day. This is another place for food when we are in the Gaylord area.”

“We had heard that this place was opening then the pandemic Stay at Home was mandated. Luckily we noticed a line at the drive thru today and looked them up online. The drive thru just so happened to be for the coffee place. Haha! We tried a cantinas Sopes our first time. Yum! It would be fun to order a few--all different meats. The Puffy beef tacos were great, they needed a bit more lettuce. Burrito Crunchy Papa, yum!”

“My wife and I are saddened to learn that BJ's restaurant has permanently closed! We loved stopping for the buffet on our way further up north. She especially loved the frog legs and will greatly miss the food and staff, especially Jason! During one visit they did not have frog legs and my wife was sad. Jason went above and beyond excellent service and had a batch made specifically for her. We will miss BJ's as it was the only place we ate at in Gaylord. Best wishes on the next venture! l”

“On a road trip up north, about two years ago, my husband and I discovered Snowbelt Brewing Co. We love visiting breweries and every time we travel, we visit a local brewery (or 5....or more). We absolutely LOVE Snowbelt! The location is cozy in downtown Gaylord. The brewery is a relaxing place for a beer and food (the food isn’t the best I’ve had, but I still give the brewery 5 stars). The beer is delicious and the staff is super friendly. What more could you ask for? So- If you’re passing through Gaylord, MI, make sure you visit Snowbelt. You won’t be disappointed. As for us, well, with so many breweries in Michigan and a few in the area (sort of) it’s not often that we go back to places over and over. Every time we pass by Gaylord, we make sure to stop either on our way up north or on our way home.”

My husband & I both ordered their Tuna Melt & requested on their homemade Grilled Sourdough bread & chose fries for the side choice. WOW! We were Amazed how Big & Scrumptious it was! I had to take 1/2 of mine home to enjoy tomorrow. We plan to come back here on a regular basis so to try their many other good looking options for both lunch & Breakfast which they serve til they close at 3. Plus, get the Tuna Melt again. “You walk in and order, then get a number and your food is brought to you. We had a large group with three separate orders and they were kind and got us extra tubes of ketchup and bbq sauce. They brought my appetizer order of sweet potato fries but they were cooked too dark for my preference. Fortunately, with my request they quickly brought me a fresh batch of sweet potato fries that were perfect. Good tacos. Good chips. Good meat. Not the best I have ever had, but good and filling.”

“I am a big fan of Asian cuisine. That being said, locally, the usual buffets are a dime a dozen. We happened to be in Gaylord and wanted Chinese, but as we are not too familiar with what the town had to offer, we checked Yelp! Bamboo Palace had excellent ratings and I heard good things through the grapevine. It was not a disappointment!!! This place is the hidden gem of Asian Cuisine in Northern Michigan. Beautiful, simple and elegant atmosphere, fantastic staff, and phenomenal food. We had the Drunken Noodle, Phoenix Chicken and Shrimp & Chicken stir fry. Each dish was lovingly prepared and plated, and the portions are huge. The Phoenix was the winner of the night, but each dish was unique, delicious and made with very fresh ingredients. Funny how we had to go to the one place ran by Americans to get authentic Asian! We will be back...and oh, btw, they make the very best, and from scratch, Egg Drop Soup I have ever had!!”
