“Great dining experience!!!! I don't think I've ever said that about a restaurant before. the food was very good but the service was EXCELLENT! Our waitress, Kathleen, was the epitome of southern hospitality. She actually (seriously) made us feel like family. From the time we walked through the door everyone there was friendly and went out of the way to make you feel special. Can't wait to get back up there and go to this restaurant again.”

“Excellent food in the high country!! Very nice, competent staff, extensive wine list, fresh seafood, excellent salads, soup and entrees. One of our favorites! And we are "foodies".”

“Great food, but very pricey. Suitable for special occasions. Downstairs was very loud.”

“This is a place you will either like or hate. I love the food. Nothing I've had here has been bad. The facility itself could be cleaner. The price is right and the food is great. If you can overlook the rest, you'll love it. If not I understand.”

“This place is what it says it is, a country kitchen. The staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. If you're trying to be health conscious, it's not the place for you. We got the breakfast buffet and it had cinnamon rolls and breakfast pizza that was delicious! But I do feel the need to workout a little harder this week.”

“We’ve been coming here ever since they opened. Never once a bad meal. It’s a busy place, especially on weekend and peak dining hours & holidays. Great for family groups or just couples. Staff is attentive and busy. We usually have more than enough to take some leftovers home.”

“Want some Chinese comfort food in the outback of Blue Ridge mountains? This is the place. Plan on take-out. The food is pretty typical of Chinese takeout anywhere. It's good and plentiful. Plus you can always count on getting in and out of here quickly even when all the other area restaurants have people waiting and are not taking to-go orders.”

“The food was great and so much. We could have shared and been full, but so glad to take left overs home. Definitely a place to repeat. We got salads and a appetizer and our meals. Then they came out with homemade rolls. We were overwhelmed by the amount of food. The price was very reasonable.”

“What a nice surprise. With the bad weather I decided to stay at the hospital for the night. I went in and the place was packed. It was full of just awesome country music with a live band. The staff were friendly. The barbecue is very good and the bread for the bun was awesome. The collards were flavorful and well done. A nice corn muffin and I saved Brunswick stew for lunch tomorrow.”

“My family came here for lunch while visiting the Boone area. The location is nice. The decor inside was charming, very small town feeling. The food was pretty good although not many selections on the menu, I had a chicken burger which was cooked well and very flavorful. The kids menu was also pretty limited so maybe a tough place for picky eaters. All in all it was an enjoyable place for a tourist to dine in.”

“Really wonderful experience. I’ve only been here twice and was pleased both times. The first was a business meeting. I enjoyed it so much I came back with a lady friend. She was in awe. The drive up, the service and of course the food were all just incredible.”

“Almost a year later and this place still had the best London Fog I’ve ever had. Also good cinnamon rolls. The guys running it were super nice. The inside needs some decorating”

“I have to say, I have traveled the world and visited 1000s of places to eat. Spending 3 days in Banner Elk, I went back to this place 4 times. Ed and his staff were absolutely amazing. The food was world class and the hospitality was beyond anything I have seen in years. I would recommend this place to everyone that is in the area, even if you have to drive to get there. You will NOT be disappointed. Thank you Ed for the incredible food and wonderful memories. I'll tell all the guys at the Embassy about you.”

“Country feel, cafeteria style. Opted for the Brisket Sandwich which was awesome. Seemed to have been smoked for quite some time and was very juicy. Pulled pork was good too, nice selection of sauces to choose from, although I seemed to have stuck with the smoky sweet versus Carolina sauce. All the staff was friendly, be sure to grab a couple of baskets of hush puppies while you’re there!”

“My wife and I recently had our first meal at Reid’s Cafe and Catering and it was awesome! The staff is very accommodating; the food selection is innovative, interesting, and simply delicious – from the appetizers, through the entrees, and finally to the wonderful selection of deserts! An excellent experience; we highly recommend a visit to Reid’s!”

“Any time your visiting Grandfather Mountain, make sure you stop by the fudge shop to get their awesome fudge. Help support this place for future visitors to enjoy. This is one of North Carolina's best natural scenic spots preserved for all to enjoy and learn from. Whether your trail hiking with beautiful views or crossing the swinging bridge to feel the wind roaring up the gorge underneath you blowing your hair straight up in the air. Be sure to visit the gift shop, restaurant and again I say, "Fudge Shop".”

“Good stop for a family visit to Grandfather Mountain. It's inside the park gates, close to the mile high bridge or the animals. Standard family fare- sandwiches, burgers, fries, ice cream - a veggie burger option. Several good high chairs (the ones with straps that click - we have toddler twins, so these things matter to us!). Overall a nice family pitstop.”
