“The food and the service was fantastic and served hot. We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary there. Good flavors in the food and very different from the normal Vietnamese food you would eat. The chef even came to our table to discuss our view with him about the food he prepared for us. It was wonderful! They gave us complimentary dessert to celebrate 🍾 😋”

“This small but quaint restaurant surprised me. I read the previous reviews, and it has been on my list to try out for some time. I questioned many of the one-star reviews, and some stated that they had been in other Vietnamese restaurants before. Service: Very good. It is a typical Vietnamese restaurant that ran by elderly folks. You come in, state how many people, you either be seated or get told to sit anywhere you want, the waiter or waitress will bring you the menu and drinks, call the waitress or waiter when you're ready to order, you get your food, and you pay at the counter. They care about the taste of the food and expediency. If you expect the service to be a five-star restaurant, temper your expectations. Food: I order two items: The BBQ pork roll for an appetizer and the Broken Rice Special. The BBQ pork: 4.5/5 stars. You MUST try this item. How is it different from other restaurants? When you bite into the roll, you get hit with flavorful sweet pork with bitterness from the char of the grill and balanced flavor with the rice noodle and lettuce. Now dip the roll into the peanut sauce; you get hit with an umami flavor bomb. The smoke and char flavor gives an outstanding balance to the sauce and separates this dish from other places. The Broken Rice Special: 5/5 stars. You MUST try this dish. There are so many parts to this dish, and if one were off, the flavor profile would not be correct. Every element works for me. You get sweet and salty from the fish sauce, the bitter and smoke flavor from the pork chop's char, the egg meatloaf provides a different flavor texture, the shredded pork skin adds another level of texture without breaking the balance, the pickled carrot and daikon give sour elements to break the fattiness of the pork, the egg provides silky flavor to the mouth, and the vegetable freshness gives you a break from the flavors bomb. Other places would have one or two pieces under-seasoned, but everything works here. This is my opinion, please come and give them a try. I will update my review each time I come back.”

“Noodles were a bit overcooked. They were unsure if the vegetarian soup used onions and the vegetarian dish we ordered never came out Positives were fast, friendly service and big portions. They also have Vietnamese crepe (a savory dish I'll try next)! Also, nice dessert selection.”

“A great hole in the wall! This restaurant is really cute and intimate. The food is really well done - the chef is basically cooking directly for you like private chef. The menu changes frequently so you know the food is fresh, seasonal, and made from scratch. My husband ordered chicken schnitzel with spaetzle (a type of German egg pasta) in a mushroom sauce - very homey and comfort foodey - perfect for a fall evening. I ordered duck confit with potato dumplings and cabbage. The duck was moist and flavorful, the cabbage also had a nice apple vinegar flavor, and the potato dumpling had a good chewy texture. We also shared the onion soup which was light and a nice way to start dinner. Highly recommend for something homey, unique and comforting.”

“I found this place by accident, and when I saw they sold tacos árabes (a style of taco found in the state of Puebla Mexico) I was extremely excited because I don't know any other taqueria in Philadelphia that specializes in this dish. It is to DIE FOR! It brings me back memories of my times in Mexico 🇲🇽. I haven't tried the other tacos but I assume they're good too because these tacos arabes are the bomb 😋 try them out gringos!”

“This is a great location for South Philly families. I took my daughter and her friends to CF right after school for her birthday. We dined inside, the staff was polite and the restaurant was clean. The service was quick, the food was hot and delicious! The owner Kevin was also very sweet to everyone and wished my daughter an extra special birthday!”

“1.First and foremost they are friendly and always answer the phone- that's almost unheard of for most Jamaican restaurants, so major points there. Customer service matters! 2. Everything I've had has been good. I like that they always have soup. (Especially this time of year) I had this chicken soup they made with pieces of dumplings in it- POPPING! 3. It's in my neighborhood and I can walk there, so yay to that! PS- Who ever complaining about the price of the oxtail CLEARLY don't go to Jamaican restaurants or to a grocery store for that matter- It's like $15 a lb at the STORE- and that's BEFORE actually adding REAL fresh ingredients to it, and cooking it. Oxtail is no longer cheap! At all! If you're broke, say that. But oxtail is now like ordering Lobster, sh*t maybe more expensive. So I'm confused by folks complaining about the price of something that ain't cheap at a supermarket. Really dusty.”

“Pera is a refined Turkish restaurant. The staff is actually Turkish and proud of their cuisine. The head chef in the kitchen is also Turkish and knows what he’s doing. The food is delicious and authentic. My mother, who is an excellent Greek home cook, had very high praises for this place. And she hates most restaurants. If that’s not a major compliment, I don’t know what is. Highly recommend!”

“Incredible food and very cute decor. We had the grilled octopus, Chicago pizza, and the 23 Brooklyn style pizza. Everything was amazing. The ingredients are fresh, and the Chicago pizza was actually my absolutely favorite. You must order it with the dip options (we had the Poblano Ranch and garlic oil). Absolutely delicious. I will certainly be back!”

“We probably didn't come in at the most opportune time to try this place out- there was a gigantic 30 person birthday party going on so I'm going to factor that into my review. Drink selection is really good here. You get a good variety of seltzers and an imaginative cocktail list. I had the fruit punch seltzer and the watermelon seltzer and both were very tasty! My friends all very much enjoyed their burgers- I branched out a little bit and decided to get an eggplant dish that came with ikura and a delicious cream sauce. The eggplant was not really consistently cooked though- some pieces were perfect and others were completely raw. I'd chalk this up to the kitchen being overwhelmed, I will be back to try this place again.”

“Amazing service. Amazing bagel. Albeit you will pay a steep price. And nearly 1$ extra for EACH topping you add on a sandwich. Other than that this place is great. The cheesesteak on a garlic bagel double toasted is to DIE for. Every sandwich has as much meat as they can fit on it comfortably. I hear a lot of people complaining about waiting. I’ve never had an issue although I order online in advance every time. The only other downside is the coffee. I don’t think they know how to use the espresso machine properly. There are diagrams in the store that show what the differences are in coffee styles. I ordered a latte and pretty much got milk and expresso poured in a cup and sent on my way. It did the job but not exactly a latte. At least it is was only like 4$. Maybe it’s an extra dollar for them to froth the milk or something.”

“This place had a cool trendy/brunch vibe. It definitely attracts a young adult crowd. They have a mimosa tower (includes 2 and 1/2 bottles of champagne). My girls and I decided to order two bottles of champagne and a carafe of orange juice instead; I prefer light juice. We all ordered the chicken and waffle. The waffles are delicious and the chicken was just ok. The chicken was fried nicely, but lacked seasoning. We also ordered a side of scrambled eggs with cheese and tater tots. The tots were good but, the eggs were more like a fried scrambled egg with the cheese folded in the middle. I went back to Set No Libs a few days later with my family. The second time around I ordered the Steak & Egg Skillet; I ordered a my eggs fried hard. I have no complaints! Overall all, the staff were nice and timely, the food was good and the vibes were cool. “The staff at Liberty Kitchen is always so friendly and welcoming. They make the best hoagie’s around. Also the tomato pie and desserts are amazing. What else can you ask for?”
