“Really surprised about the negative comments. I had a GREAT experience at the Desert Flour Bakery. The breads looked delicious, my coffee was good and breakfast was piping hot. “Clean, courteous, and an outstanding steakhouse. Storytellers Steakhouse food was so delicious. Three NY steaks and one filet. All were cooked to perfection, seasoned mildly to allow the natural flavor to be the focus. We had zucchini, yellow squash, and herb potatoes. It was the highlight of our one night stay. Staff everywhere were great. Breakfast in the buffet was very nice; open at 7am which is when we arrived for chafing dishes filled with just made eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and more. The teens enjoyed the arcade, but the bowling alley was reserved for leagues, but otherwise we would have bowled as well. Indoor pool and whirlpool. Casino machines were mostly penny slots so my husband was not as interested in poking for pennies. A few table games. No poker, tho. Were we to come back to the Camp Verde area I'd see them as a consistent, reliable property. Highly recommend the steakhouse.”

“My son's name is Maverik. So, every chance we get, we stop into on of these gas stations to look for merchandise with the Maverik logo. Up until now, we have not been able to find anything. We are looking for maybe a hat, beene, stickers, or anything so my son would have cool stuff with his name on it and spelled right. We stopped into this particular establishment during our roadtrip up north to Flagstaff. This particular gas station is of the beaten path a bit from Highway 17. But like I had mentioned, we try to stop at these gas stations to look for memorabilia. We went inside and asked if they had anything with the logo on it. The nice lady behind the counter kindly stated, "No". Not a surprise, only because we have been looking for some time now. But figured it was worth a try. Well, then she asked my to hold on for a moment. She walked into a back room and came out with a new employee name tag for my son. She was the sweetest thing. I apologize, but I did not get her name. If she remembers this encounter and happens to see this, I would like to make sure she knows how much he appreciated it. Thank you so much. If we ever get back that way, we will most definitely be giving this station our business.”

“Wife and I went here on Sunday. Our first visit. Gonna give a very detailed review. Lets get the cons out first: -Patio does not offer much shade- is this a big deal-not really as it is beautiful 10 months a year. -not much character inside- seats, chairs, and outside of a nice picture of vineyards, plain walls, dark tables. etc. Just needs some decor improvement. Pros: -Dana was amazing- patient, explained the story of the place, the vineyards, and the wines. She was pleasant , personable, knowledgeable, and fun. -John, the owner, was great. We talked about the wines and gave me 5 different tastings- basically a flight. He didn't charge me and he talked about the wine and interacted. I actually purchased a bottle because of the tastings. -Onion Soup- amazing- best onion soup I have had. -Poutine- I am used to Canadian style but this was very good. Duck fat and brie- how can you go wrong! I would suggest less duck fat and less brie as it became soupy and mushy. A little duck fat goes a long way- But not a complaint. -Turkey and brie- great sandwich. -Wines were all good. Some better than others but all were good. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there and will, for sure, be back. Great wine, great service, great food.. Check them out...”

“The food gives this place the rating, the service while personable and pleasant was adversely affected by a lack of staff and deducts a star. We were there at lunchtime.. The bartender, Andre, was waiting tables and trying "chat" with the bar patrons...(if you're a bartender, chatting up the bar patrons is part of the job so I don't fault him for that). We had a Caesar Salad with chicken, Scotch egg, chicken wings and shepherd's pie, twice baked potato, fries...and Guinness...The salad was excellent with a very large complement of chicken...but dressing was requested "on the side" and was already mixed into the salad. The Scotch egg was excellent and an ample sized (4 halves) portion. The twice baked potato was excellent! The fries were a surprisingly large serving, piping hot and crispy. The shepherd's pie was good but not excellent, nothing "wrong" just not a "standout." The wings were excellent. I had "sticky toffee pudding" for dessert. It was the smallest portion I've ever been served, it was accompanied by a scoop of ice cream. It was very good but, after generous portions of everything else, it came as a bit of a shock to see something about the size of a thick silver dollar being served as the sticky toffee dessert.”
