“Amazing experience at the Bernardus Lodge and at Lucia. Food was so delicious and fresh, and service was first class. We ordered the crab cakes and the white asparagus with morel mushrooms for appetizers - both were amazing. Pork chop and duck were perfectly cooked. Dessert didnt disappoint either. “It was a great spot, we got there super late and it's one of the few places on Carmel that will stay open late and serve food pay 10:30pm. They even let us sit outside (we had our dog with us) even though it was fly early closed already; and turned on the heaters for us. Food was delicious, we only had the bar menu available and it was super good. The tamale was so good. They also made drinks for us based on our likes and changed it over and over until it was something we liked. Would definitely go back.”

“We have been coming to the Valley Kitchen for over four years and the dining has always been suburb! This visit however something had noticeably changed (new management, or maybe a change in chef) and the whole experience was different. To start, the waitress (who seemed annoyed to be at work) did not review the menu with us, or discuss the daily specials (which is something that always occurred in the past) instead we had to inquire on one of her quick stops by our table. Her explanation was brief and only a few words, so we weren’t sold on why the specials were, special! The food, once it arrived, was just ok and largely under seasoned. My husband’s potatoes had a strange metallic taste and had to be sent back. The filet I ordered had virtually no salt on it and the red wine jous was no where to be found. This is such a departure from the food we have tasted in the past - so were really disappointed. We hate to say it, but will have to think twice about dining at the kitchen again. At $160 for two adults and a child the whole meal/experience was just not worth it...”

“We love this place! It's one of my favorites in the Monterey Carmel area. It's open only for lunch and breakfast. The menu is very unique. It's one of the few places I have ever seen lamb and eggs on the menu. Everything is really good and in most cases more creative than other standard lunch or breakfast places. Really make a move I had link sausage with apple fritters and a side of over easy eggs. My wife had a half an order of eggs benedict Everything was great! When you look at the pictures there's a thermal mug on the table. It holds warm maple syrup which is meant to be poured onto the apple fritters.”

“We love Covey! We bring our fur babies and sit outside and enjoy the fountain and pond on a nice day. The food is always delicious (although I don't like the breakfast sausages they use, they are more like Irish bangers than breakfast sausage) so we just go for the bacon or ham instead. The staff is always very nice and attentive. I like that they give you your own pot of coffee too!”

After an underwhelming breakfast the day before at First Awakenings in Monterey, we searched for a place that would serve breakfast but have a unique twist to it. The biscuit and gravy was made of freshly made cheese biscuits (I think they were toasted with butter ????) with a delicious sausage patty in it and covered with a delicious and unique tasting gravy that made the first bite amazing. I enjoyed it until my last bite! Wife enjoyed her eggs Florentine and side of pancakes and biscuit.”
