“Location: Historic Jackson Ward, a short walk from downtown. The place: Small, with bar seating and some tables as well. Nothing fancy, but cozy. The goods: Well, OK, I wanted to love the food. Honest. I ordered the fried chicken, and was a little disappointed because to me, it seemed a little over cooked and dry. The crust was super crispy, and I love that, but it was lacking flavour - it didn't really taste like it had been seasoned. However, a lovely local who was sat next to me, gave me a chunk of her catfish when I curiously asked what catfish tastes like. Let me tell you, people: catfish is GOOD. I regret not ordering the catfish - it was fresh, hot and so very tasty! Add to that the best Mac & cheese ever, and a warm corn muffin and you're set. I'd give this a 3.5 but I'm the absence of half points, I'm giving it a 4 for the catfish alone. Service: Good Price point: Two pieces of chicken was $9 and I think that's a little steep. With the Mac & cheese, the total was about $13.”

“I stumbled upon this place looking for a new lunch spot. When I entered I was greeted by the owner. I ordered the rocket pops, or something along that line. Absolutely delicious! Smoked rib meat mixed with pimento cheese. It was wrapped in a wonton wrap, then deep fried. It was a culinary masterpiece! I sampled their whole smoked chicken wing. I was in smoky poultry heaven! The finally was a brisket sandwich along with smoked Mac and cheese. By this point I was completely stuffed. I was considering ending my work day to go take a nap. I highly recommend this place.”

“Today was my first visit since Cafe Ole switched owners. I ordered a steak quesadilla. Food was overall pretty good (though, the quesadilla was slightly overdone) and a decent value. “In town for business and was looking for somewhere close to the Marriott Delta. This is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Since moving from Texas, I haven't had any good Mexican Food in a couple of years. Chicanos Cocina was amazing. In fact I came back two nights in a row. Great food, great service and great prices. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Only got to try the burritos and enchiladas, both were exceptional. Their chips and salsa were also great. Wish there was a location like this back home. “Beauvine is one of our local favorites that we keep coming back to. It's a nice little restaurant in the fan with fantastic burgers/fries. Their 5 dollar cheeseburger is good but get one of their specialty burgers and some duck fat or sweet potato fries to get a full experience.
