When you drive up to restaurant the front porch had rocking chairs that looked like a good place to sit if you were waiting on more people or a table.”

“Great Chinese place.... China Fresh is a bit out of the way for me but sometimes I make the drive over to Salem just to eat their general tso's. The lady here has a mental handicap. One of the employees told me she has a learning disability so leave her alone about being rude. She doesn't mean to be rude. She has a learning disability and is slow sometimes. Learn to be patient and compassionate. The food is amazing.”

“Cute place, nice people, however shop needs updating. Price is decent for the food. Ordered cheese fries and they were plain fries with a mountain of cheese. No seasoning at all, not even salt and pepper. Salad was okay, just shredded lettuce, with some cut up meat and cheese. Pizza was good for what I expected.”

“I visited Lakeside Subway today. I noticed there was only 1 employee behind the counter. She was having to do everything. I asked her, Brandy Powell, where her help was. She said the help left or didn’t come in, I’m not sure. However an employee decided to come in but left after an hour. Brandy was doing a great job and was not complaining even though the place was busy. I was very impressed by her attitude especially since she was alone. I wonder if an employee like Brandy is paid what she is worth. It’s a shame if she’s not because I found her to be exceptional. Dependable employees are very hard to find. I would think if a place of business like Subway had one, they would take good care of them. What a shame if you lose Brandy Powell. Thank you, Janet Huff.”

“Great place everyone has always been nice to me... but here’s why I rated 3 star So today I walk in and I ask if they accept maroon cards. Then they proceed to offer me a job. I am 13. I can’t legally have a job. I give them my maroon card, they accept it, and then proceed in attempting to offer me a job. Then, they ring me up for my order and charge some other ladies wrap to my card. In the end, smoothie was great but the cashier guys customer service needs work.”

“Drove in from Norfolk for several activities in the Roanoke area for my wife’s birthday. Researched restaurants on-line before leaving home. The Blue Apron stood out from guests reviews and seemed unique. Circled the block three times before finally seeing the front door. Very small front “presence”!! Reservation at 5:30 PM. For some reason the bartender from the adjacent room took our drink and food order and continued to assist us as our waitress until near the end of our meal. Then, no waitress? Ditched! After alerting several staff that we needed to check out, another staff brought our check. Frustrating. Now for the highlight, our food was outstanding!!! Best Provençal Bouillabaisse ever and outstanding pork cheeks with deliciously flavored under-base. One final not-so-good, skip the strawberry shortcake. Biscuit (for cake), very small and seemed two days old. Overall experience, great entrees with a few things still needing work.”

“We tried this restaurant while staying at the Salem Motor Lofts and were very glad that we did. We got the pulled pork sandwiches (didn’t try any of the sides) and they were delicious. The meat was tender and juicy, I didn’t notice any issues with it being bland or not pulled well. The BBQ sauce was delicious, Carolina style with vinegar. The place was affordable and service was quick and friendly. I’d highly recommend giving this BBQ place a try.”

“The Salem BK is revamping, and, as it happens in a number of cases, there are some bumps in the road. With that said, there is a decided difference. The staff is a little sparse and still learning, however, the people are friendly, sincere and honestly trying their best to serve. The food is way better than any of the other BKs in the area, and any inconvenience as these folks learn is well worth it. I'd encourage everyone to patron the Salem BK and support them as they continue to evolve into the restaurant they want to be.”
