“We stopped at The Tipsy Crow on our way to the Cubs game for dinner and some drinks. It's an open air bar with a great atmosphere. Plenty of TVs and a nice stage for bands. The food was typical bar food mainly. I had the brisket which was delicious. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely go back next time in Des Moines.”

“Great food and lovely employees. The waiter we had was the most joyful person I had seen that day. He was so kind and was always walking around making sure we had what we needed. He was the only person waiting tables while we were there and he did amazing. When he wasn't waiting on anyone he would be dancing behind the bar just genuinely enjoying his time at work. It's good to see someone so happy with where they work. On top of having great food, Pho Real is obviously a good place to work and treats their employees well. If you are contemplating stopping in for a meal, do it. It is worth every penny. I left feeling full of joy and food.”

“I was in this evening from Kansas City which has no great German restaurants. This was a refreshing change in large part because of my server, Katelyn! I had beer cheese soup as a starter and the sausage platter with a side of German potato salad and of course a wonderful German beet that was recommended by Katelyn. Everything was on point! The service and food were excellent. A wonderful relaxed atmosphere which is a great place to catch a game! I’ll definitely be back soon! I completed my meal with a slice of German Chocolate Cake...delicious! Don’t come to this wonder place and order a Bud Light like the table next to me! Really?!”

“I went to pick-up a few groceries not knowing they had a hot food bar. I found the latter and had a very good meal. The choices vary daily, so you're not 100% certain what you'll find. However, my meal was tasty, healthy, and likely less than I would have spent for a comparable meal at a full-fledged restaurant. It was pay by weight, and I think the (relatively new) checkout clerk didn't subtract the weight of the china plate I used. Nonetheless, it was still under $10 for a full meal of my choice.”

“Needs a little more consistency. First few times a went it was amazing. The ingredients are great and I love the way they lightly grill their burritos to keep the tortilla in place. The last couple of times, however, the person making the burrito did not miss the ingredients up, so I was taking bites of only sour cream or only steak or only rice. Not sure if it was just the individual making it or what?”

“My first visit. Lots of choices on the menu.Took me awhile to read through it on the wall. You order at the counter then go sit. You get your own fountain drinks. They call you to come get your food when it is ready. That took 15 minutes. It tasted ok. I was a little confused about where to get silverware since they were out of forks. “Good breakfast bagels but as a sort of tourist it was confusing to find. If you’re visiting and wanting to come here to eat, enter the building with the Burger King and go up to the second floor. When you go up, you will see a single corridor (skywalk) go the opposite direction. Keep walking and the restaurant will be on the left. The sandwiches are hot and they have caribou coffee.”

“My boyfriend and I went to the 2nd Saturday 10 course blind tasting. The theme was Around the World. I was amazed by the speed of the waiters and waitresses. The bartenders were very nice. When they were explaining each course you could tell they were pronouncing each amazing item. One waiter poured his heart out explaining the dish. The atmosphere was happy and delightful.
