“The service was bad, they brought us to a table that they forgot to wipe down and then they forgot to give us water. The food was quick and good though. They had really good eggs and skewers and it wasn't very expensive either. At the end they politely took the bill and kind of made us leave.”

“Were vacationing from Arizona and found this gem. The atmosphere and wait staff were awesome. The food was spectacular. If your tired of the expensive waterfront overpriced places this place is a must stop by and hangout. We got there at 4:30 for a beer or two, we left at 9:30. Go ASU. He knows who he is.”

“Went there for a Bat Mitzvah... it was so much fun! Beautiful views, great location, riding the ferry was easy. The service was excellent. Everyone had a fantastic time!”

“Exceeded expectations! Live music on Friday night was enjoyable, but the food took the spotlight. Asked the hostess what her favorite appetizer was and she suggested the fish tacos. AWESOME SUGGESTION! So good that my expectations really started to raise for the main course. Lobster Mac&Cheese. Large chunks of lobster and flavorful pasta. The key lime cheesecake was a perfect ending. I would definitely go back and recommend to others. It is a step down from the street but I enjoyed the atmosphere. Oh... the onion rings are amazing but had to ask for sauce to dip.”

“Great spot for a quick bite in downtown Portland before or after your tour. 2 slices and drinks cost about $13. Bathrooms were clean and staff very friendly. We’re from NYC and are quick to judge pizza quality and I have to say the pizza is decent.”

“Went there during lunch and they had live music. They make a good shrimp basket. The shrimp wrap is also tasty. Their fried food is not too greasy like you find in a lot of seafood places that serve seafood baskets. Good view of the water from their deck.”

“Wandered in Saturday around 6 and we got lucky to get seats at the bar. Unusual menu but we figured out how to have 4 courses for $60/person. The tomato and melon salads were very novel, the mushroom tempura amazing, and main courses of chicken and cod were delicious. Inventive desserts. Service was team-based and well-timed. A great experience so next time we'll make a reservation!”

“Just beautiful food. Eventide has created a playfully nontraditional Maine menu that stands out from the crowd in the best way. An astonishing balance of New England/Asian flavors, expertly executed every time. I'm still thinking about their coconut curry lobster stew. Perfect service, gorgeous interior and quirky beverage menu. I love this place!”

“Best Japanese Restaurant in town. The owner really cares of the quality of his food. He was a finalist on the show Chopped Order: Yakisoba - delicious (loved the eggplant) - portion size was just right! It left me satisfied and not overstuffed ???????? This place is cool vibes ???? Variety of beers, sake & wine Friendly & accommodating staff, especially Nick! ***no military discount***”

“Absolutely amazing meal. The lobster wontons and the halibut collar special were 2 of the best dishes I have eaten. Service was fantastic and prices were reasonable. We were recommended to go to this place by a local guide and were very grateful. 10/10 did recommend to a friend”

“Quick, friendly service. Great location! Street parking. Order: Happy Hour CHICKEN LEG RILLETTES WITH HOUSE MUSTARD & PICKLES $7: this was so good! Especially loved the way the bread was prepared. FRIED FISH SANDWICH $13: delicious, lite, refreshing & filling. Salad was not drenched in dressing but could be a little less salty. The pickles were a highlight with each dish. They were very sweet!”

“The burgers are awesome. Juicy and cooked perfect. Do the upgrade to the sidewinder fries. I have to say out of all the places we ate at in the New England states this one is hands down the best. Seating is limited, I saw 2 tables for 4 the rest are for 2. The staff is very sweet.”

“Love that wait staff. And the Vermont sandwich was good. Unfortunately the chicken in the Harvest Salad did not prove to be that good. The chicken's texture was unappealing and whatever spices on it definitely made it so we could not eat it. Our server was awesome when we told her. Would give them another chance but not order this salad.”

“Drove up to Portland from Boston for the day and wanted to grab some lunch. There are so many amazing options in the area and the Olive Cafe definitely deserves to be in that category. It is a small place but not cramped. We were there on an off time so seating was plentiful. But it’s a restaurant so it’s about the food. The food was simply awesome. Very fresh. The olive plate was tasty and the shawarmas were awesome. Prices were reasonable too. The waitress was awesome as well - she was very personable and gave us some great tips where to visit during our short stay. We took her suggestions and had a great day! If your in the area definitely check out this place! Yum.”

“It's been years we've been waiting for a chance to dine at Fore Street Restaurant. It did not disappoint. It is rustically charming and oddly comfortable. The service was just right -- attentive enough without being overbearing -- and our server was knowledgeable and helpful. The menu is always changing, so our tips may be of only limited help, but here goes: the seafood sampler was exquisite and a great way to start. The pork done over the wood fire was tender, moist and intense. The fish of the day came whole, cooked perfectly and garnished beautifully. Who orders chicken in a restaurant? My daughter did, and we all agreed it was among the best we had ever had (it is cooked on a rotisserie; its skin was golden crisp and the meat was tender, moist and delicious). The sides were as good as the mains. We needed the advice not to fill up on the wonderful bread from the bakery downstairs, but that took a feat of will. Strongly recommended.”

“This is more of a review from our recent wedding but wanted to share. Steve Jr and the entire staff at DiMillo’s are incredible. Such a beautiful environment. Accommodating in every way. Service is impeccable. Food was loved by all. They are incredibly easy to work and handled every aspect of our wedding perfectly. Thank you for such a phenomenal time! Was beyond anything I could have imagined. Go get you some massive shrimp, prime rib, or lobster roll! It will be amazing and you will be in an amazing place. While I’ll only get married there once, I will be back many times!”

“The food is fair but it's a shame they don't have more lobster choice. Mostly just a single small size with sides. The steamers have a little more sand in them than other places. Great clam chowder though and I'd recommend that as a starter. Good staff and nice atmosphere.”

“I love, love this restaurant. When I lived in Maine it was my place to stop at about once a week for some oysters and a cocktail up at the very beautiful bar area. I also loved their salads. I did enjoy the dining side, there is great seating, wonderful food, and amazing dessert. Staff has always been friendly and informative. Thank you.”

“Definitely a special treat restaurant, but what a treat! Food was one of the best meals I’ve had, and the waitress (who I believe was named Sarah) was so friendly and helpful! Great place.”

“Love this place! As a vegetarian, it's extremely difficult to find a nice place to eat when you visit Portland with friends, that offers something for the meat-free diner and the carnivore. This place has an abundance of both, and we are so thankful that they exist! My favorite is the Mac & Cheese; it's especially great with added broccoli. My husband gets the Black Bean Burger and says it's great. The nachos are already vegetarian as is and are probably the best nachos I've had in a long time. Their hummus platter is good, too. They have a nice selection of beer and hard cider; Downeast is the best. We can't wait to visit again during our next trip.”

“Our dinner started slowly but Robin corrected course and provided attentive service. Gilbert's clam chowder was serviceable but could have been hotter. Their sides, an excellent ear of corn, for late in the season, combined with onion rings, that were tasty with a light batter, were a refreshing change. Our main course, lobsters, were prepared properly and were an excellent value. Overall Gilbert's did well”

“Fantastic restaurant and pub that's worth the price uptick. Atmosphere is great. You can pick to stay on the ground floor, which is a darker pub setting, or go upstairs for a view of the bay in a much-more lit area. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Menu has a bit of variety. I ended up getting the maple duck burger, which was fantastic. Even the salad, which I expected to be wimpy, was textured and full. The seafood chowder is worth it as well... very flavorful! Full menu of whiskies separated by region and by type. That screams out a place that knows what it's serving, which also means it will have a variety that should please most people. The prices are up there, but you also get a generous pour (about two drams-worth). I also saw something online that looked like a menu for dogs... which I thought was pretty cool. Worth a stop!”

“I rarely find restaurants worth their wait times. Flatbread is a notable exception, and I never mind waiting 30-60 minutes for a table. The atmosphere and service is always so uplifting and lively - you feel like you're instantly among a huge group of friends. But even more than that, the pizza is incredible! Whether you go with a classic or one of their seasonal specials, you won't be disappointed. Solid beer and dessert choices to boot.”

“I love this place in the summer, especially on Sundays! Great, large patio over the water, a decent crowd and typically good live music. I've only sat inside a few times, but it's enough to say I definitely prefer the outdoor area. I don't know if it's the style they are looking for, but its a little rundown for my taste. Food is a fair price and decent. The Cajun fish tacos on blue corn tortillas are my favorite. However, it feels like the portion of fish has decreased over the past couple of summers. Very friendly servers, even when they are clearly busy, they still put in the extra effort and it shows. I will certainly be back for the patio, drinks, and summer fun!”
