“My wife and I elected a 'dine and stay' package to celebrate New Year's Eve at the General Stanton Inn, which we enjoyed immensely. The owners did a great job of retaining the Inn's incredible historic charm, while remodeling the rooms and kitchen/bar. Our room was impeccable, the owner and staff could not be more accommodating, and our dinner was awesome in a relaxed atmosphere. Bonus - live music from the Van Pelt duo was a lot of fun. We may have found our new NYE tradition. We live about 30 minutes from the Inn, and we're planning to grab dinner at the restaurant again soon.”

“I’ve been to the new location 6 times since their opening. Great food at decent prices. I’ve lived in the area for the past 18 years. I visited the hitching post once in the 17 years. Scallops are excellent! I enjoy the fish sandwich with the salsa on it. White chowder is excellent as well. I’m not a clam cake fan, but two guest that joined me enjoyed theirs.”

“I went here with friends on a Sunday afternoon. Everything was fantastic! The chowder was delicious, creamy with plenty of clams and potatoes. The clam cakes were very good. Perfect size and had clams!! The lobster roll and the lobster fires were both spectacular! Nice to have a clam shack back with a nice staff to go with it> I will definitely be back>”

“For only being open for a few days, you'd never know it. I came in around 11:30 and couldn't decide on breakfast or lunch and I was in testing and tasting mood. So I decided on the sausage n gravy on a biscuits with eggs and home fries and a bowl of chowder. Never seen sausage gravy with so much sausage it was excellent! The chowder was phenomenal loaded with clams and potatoes with a light cream base / broth.”

“First off when I entered this establishment I noticed the rearrangement from last year was way better I've been coming to Charlestown for 5 years now and I have never been recieved so politely by any other resturant. The employees were so warm and friendly and although the manager was busy prepping food he took the time to hand out samples to everyone. Very professional personnel and very pleased I will be back.”

“Went for dinner. Sat at the bar, a younger guy couldn’t get to us so we waited patiently. He never got to us which is fine. I don’t like to complain. So the hostess felt bad and came over and said you guys have waited too long I’ll take care of you. She was amazing. Her name was Molly. I asked her why she’s a hostess and not a server because she was outstanding. We were stuck in the corner of bar with barely any room. She wanted to make us comfortable so she Asked if we would like to move to this two top to be more comfortable. So we did and she made a great recovery to our experience. Thank you so much Molly. Hope your serving next time we get there because we will ask for you!!!”

“We've been here once a year for the past few years. Best pizza we've found near Charlestown. Pan pizza, great flavor. Always pleasant employees, and fairly fast service. I think we waited 10, 15mins tops for 3 pizzas. Definitely recommend if you're a pan pizza fan.”

“This place has been in my life since I was little. When my uncle owned it I got to enjoy the best clam fritters,Rhode island clam chowda, and my absolute favorite the coleslaw. Absolutely the place where good eating happens. Not only did I get to enjoy it I got to witness how it's made. It's made with nothing but goodness. The hands have passed to his daughter and she is keeping my uncle's memory and hard work alive. Still the best clam fritters and I'm sorry but my favorite the coleslaw still rocks.
