Captain's Table

Address: 220 W, 220 Mt Rushmore Rd, Custer, SD 57730, USA

Restaurant

“It wasn't bad. Server was really nice. The food, that we ordered, was frozen to deep fried. I think it was a bit pricey as nothing was actually prepared there. Frozen shrimp, fish and fries....deep fried and served on fancy plates.”

The Frontier Grill

Address: 680 Mt Rushmore Rd, Custer, SD 57730, USA

Restaurant

“First time visiting South Dakota. Everywhere else had sucked with the food. I came here as a last resort and wasn't disappointed. The frontier burger was absolutely delicious and juicy. The staff were super friendly and gave me a refill without me having to ask. They came over and asked if the food was alright and if we needed anything else. Definitely awesome service!! At the end, we ended up talking with the Staff and chef for a bit. Thank you so much and I'll make sure to come by again when I return.”

Dakota Broasted, LLC

Address: 86 Centennial Dr, Custer, SD 57730, USA

Restaurant

“In town, found this place via Google. Had a bunch of great reviews. Not often places live up to the hype. But this place exceeded. If you’re vacationing here and have any appetite for chicken, stop here! You won’t regret it. Crispy deliciousness for the batter. But unlike other fried chicken options, the chicken is not dry. Definitely juicy as advertised. Also got the potato wedges. Forgot to ask for ketchup, but to our surprise they didn’t need any. Fantastic flavor and stood on their own. Also got the baked beans. They have a mild spiciness that brings out a classic food but with a unique flavor. I could go on and on. Place is easy to find just south of highway 16 on Centennial, but do need to keep an eye out as it is a small location. No dine-in but there are picnic tables if the weather is nice. If not there is a drive through. 12 piece was more than enough for a family of four. We probably could’ve even went with the 8 piece given the two sides. Regardless, very reasonable price for the amount of food. Service was excellent too.”

Wagon Wheel Bar

Address: 115 Main St, Interior, SD 57750, USA

Restaurant

“You might be a little timid to try this place out, but I assure you it’s worth it. An authentic bar from back in the day, with all kinds of cool beer signs and good food. I had the Buffalo burger and it was great. The bartender Darren kept conversion with our group and we learned a lot about the little town of interior. Great place!”

Badlands Bistro

Address: 20031 SD-44, Interior, SD 57750, USA

Restaurant

The Hitchrail Bar & Restaurant

Address: 421 Northern St, Pringle, SD 57773, USA

Restaurant

“It was SUPER busy I think the whole town of Pringle was there (maybe even the whole county) but definitely worth the wait. My husband had the catfish and he said it was the best he ever had, (I had a bite and agreed it was good and I don't like fish). I had a burger and it was definitely not from a frozen patty. Oh and we didn't try any of the dinner danglers but if that's your thing I bet they're great! My husband was worried because We did leave the cash on the table. I tried to reassure him that we weren't in Chicago.”

Hot Stuff Pizza

Address: 22285 SD HWY 44, Wanblee, SD 57577, USA

Restaurant

Yesway

Address: 100 6th Ave, Edgemont, SD 57735, USA

Restaurant

“Clean pumps! The store looks updated and new from the outside. Inside is being renovated and there’s only one bathroom right now. It’s got a log cabin look on the outside. Prices for gas aren’t too exorbitant for being in the middle of nowhere, about five cents more than the station across the street though. There’s an ice machine in the front if you’re looking for some during your travels. Also there is a sign advertised as serving Allsup’s World Famous Burrito here. It’s kind of a grocery store, just higher priced like a convenient store.”

Pirate's Convenience Store

Address: 28298 Angostura Rd, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

“I love this bar, it's my kind of place.......also the new remodel is out of this world. Def check it out won't be disappointed. Appropriate for all ages!”

Dew Drop Inn Cafe

Address: 1204 Sherman St, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Restaurant

“You have to order the hamburger if you come here. I had the bacon burger and loved every bite. The fries were good too, just like the wait staff. They were nice and funny, and they give a military and first responder discount.”

The Berm

Address: 1100 N River St, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Restaurant

“Foodies (people with adventurous palates) here...Tried them when they first opened up, 4mons ago, back in April 2022--food was bland. We didn't want to discourage them with a bad review, so we let them get settled in before trying them again. Tried them for Brunch today...Okonomiyaki was on point! Katsudon was mediocre. Pork was super dry. Japanese Curry had no meat and was VERY mild. Taiyaki could use some sort of drizzle, at the very least. Otherwise, it's just dry and weak. It's a great "in-between" mundane palates and adventurous palates. Like what we've advised other new places to eat before, don't be afraid to cook it how you normally would...If that's how you normally cook it, don't be afraid to add more seasoning. People will grow to love Authentic Cuisines. Good luck!”

Our appetizer was the cheese tray, excellent! Our main course was presented timely and looked appealing. I had the chicken, which was absolutely perfect. So many flavors that I haven’t had before. This is definitely a 5 Star I highly recommend.”

Restaurant

Daily Bread Bakery and Café

Address: 627 N River St, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Bakery Restaurant

“We visited this local breakfast and lunch restaurant while on vacation in Hot Springs. The restaurant is inside a bakery. I ordered the sausage and cheese omelet and declined the toast. I added a side if sausage gravy and it was a good thing I did. The omelet was dry and over cooked. I asked the server for salsa which she brought to our table. The salsa was served in a tiny plastic medicine size 'cup', about 1 tablespoons worth. It probably came from a jar or worse, a plastic jug. The sausage gravy was very thick, almost pudding like. When we ate it was about one hour before they closed, so the gravy was probably the best part of the meal for me. My companion ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. She enjoyed her breakfast and was satisfied. I was disappointed. May go back on our next trip Hot Springs.”

1891 Steak house and Bistro

Address: 603 N River St US-385, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

“Wanna go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came? Mornin’ Sunshine Coffee House is your place then! (They know no strangers) We were promptly and warmly welcomed in with a smile as bright as the sun. ☀️ The food was delish! I added chicken to my veggie pesto panini and it was (chef’s kiss). The grilled chicken Caesar salad was fresh and crisp 😃 My daughter had the French toast and LOVED it! Amazingly beautiful building with gorgeous detailing on the walls and ceiling. (Was it an old malt shop many years ago?) Cute little tables and chairs encourage great conversations. Perfect place to stop in for a coffee, a bite, or just to sit for a bit. Until you’re ready to stroll down beautiful Hot Springs again, that is!”

“Not every small town in South Dakota has a Pakistani restaurant but this is Hot Springs hidden gem we are so lucky for the owners making there home here and serving awesome food. It's fall time and while waiting in line to order the conversation about "Chi tea " came up, I can tell you there chi tea was sweet with good amount of spices this was so good on this cool evening. I had chicken Marcella great portion the right heat for spice. My friend had the okra Marcella and he was very satisfied with the spice and heat level. “Perfect place to stop for lunch before hitting the hot springs. We got the grilled cheese & tomato soup and the burger and both were delicious! You can tell the chef puts his heart into his food because the flavors were so soulful. One of the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever had! Didn’t try the ice cream since it was a chilly day but it looked great too! Awesome local spot and the employees were all very kind. Highly recommend!”

There were alot of flavor. I love the little gifts you can purchase while there. A great place to stop in.”

Chicago Street Cafe

Address: 138 S Chicago St, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Restaurant

“Stopped in on a recommendation and glad we did! Very unique place. Great food and service even with the reduced workforce and menu. Everything is homemade. Fries are real potatoes!! BLT salad - awesome (get a box) and toasted buns on the burger. They even have homemade Cherry and Blueberry pie but we had no room for that!! Maybe dessert later??”

Big Time Pizza

Address: 310 S Chicago St, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Restaurant

“The pizza is good and the servers friendly. But $16.65 for a 12” pepperoni pizza served in a box with a paper plate seemed a bit pricey. It was the smallest pizza on offer. It would have been nice to have the option of buying it by the slice. They had decent live music playing inside. I chose to sit outside as they have many options, most with good shade. It is not fast food, so don’t go here if you’re in a hurry. But it is good. If I wasn’t traveling alone today, the 12” would have easily fed two (and would thereby not be over priced. If you’re in the mood for pizza and want to find a place to hang with friends, this is a good option in Hot Springs, SD.”

Woolly's Grill and Cellar

Address: 1648 US Highway 18 (Truck Bypass), 1648 US-18 BYP, Hot Springs, SD 57747, USA

Restaurant

“Long day driving down from Rushmore to Wind Cave, so we asked our hotel for a recommendation and came here. HIGHLY recommend them as a great tourist or family stop! For our group of 6 kids, 4 adults, they needed 20 min to get us seated (totally reasonable for our crowd.) My kids enjoyed the lemon water they kept cool in the entry for waiting guests. We were especially impressed with their salad and sides bar! The greens were fresh, the options plentiful, and the sides were scrumptious! FYI, the mac and cheese and steak fries were far better than the kids meal man or fries. Since the salad and side bar was included with all meals including kid's, my kids never touched their kid dishes and just left kid mac or fries on the table, opting for the bar mac n cheese. Those of us who ordered meat main courses were well-pleased with the flavors and presentation of our dishes. We had one mix up... my husband thought his meat was overcooked when he ordered medium rare. Turns out, he had claimed my oldest kid's steak, so he withdrew his cooking complaint since he was at fault for the swapped dish. All the staff we met were delightful, and eager to serve us. Coming here after a long and busy road trip was such icing on the cake. Seriously, if you are in Hot Springs, this delightful restaurant is a must experience stop!”
