“Decent if you can fit the dress code. We did, but considering the bar has the same amenities as others in the area, I don't think a dress code= higher quality goods and services. So if that's a defining factor for you, you won't miss anything specail. I don't know how much they enforce it, just something to be aware of. Earlier in the night it was quiet. We had plenty of space to play giant beer pong. Once the night started picking up, the dj came on. Music choice was 80s-early 2000s pop. Fun for a small group while watching an obscure movie on the TVs. Not sure if that's a thing, but watching "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" was a big mood. Outdoor patio is nice, facilities are mostly clean and stocked. The bartenders kept the bar stocked/clean and had lots of garnishes that looked so tasty! Bartenders were great. Close to other venues so if bar hopping, a solid mid point. We ended up staying much longer than we anticipated, and the bar got busier through the night and the giant pong can get a bit crowded.”

It's savory, filling without being excessive, and healthy to boot. Although not pictured here, the red snapper is also highly recommended. The combination of fresh fish and the outstanding pineapple salsa paired with the flavorful rice underneath is tops! “Walked in on a whim. Planning to go to another restaurant near here, but I'm glad I went to Spaghetti Works instead. I was not familiar with many of there sauses so decided to get the sampler. It was fabulous. There were a couple sauses I was not as fond of, but there were surprises too. I am not a big seafood person, but the SPICY red clam sauce was amazing. And try actually mean spicy. The beer cheese an chili were both good and completely new experiences for me. If you are undecided on more than a couple of them, give it a try ... On and it's A LOT of food. Additionally I started with their salad bar, basic lettuce and some fun toppings, plus a wide variety of dressings. I'm sure I could have made a meal of it if I had tried. And the people, although they were short staffed, the staff was still wonderful and made my experience even better. I believe Jada was my servers name and she was extremely helpful.”

“Heard about Mad Meatball opening back up and had to check it out for myself. The food was amazing. The thin crust pizza exceeded all expectations. The pasta was also very good. I will definitely be coming back. There are some great staff members working. It was extremely busy on a Thursday night. Brittany, the manager, was very attentive and did an amazing job. Our waitress, Olivia, did an amazing job, very kind and attentive. Being a newly re-opened restaurant, there are some kinks to be worked out. There was no drink menu, and it was difficult to see the beers on tap, due to their location in the bar. I’ve included a photo of their drafts. Parking is a bit of a problem- there is parking behind Mad Meatball, but it was all full. We found parking available one block south, where for now there is ample street parking.”

“Great new addition to the area! The Neapolitan style pizza was good, crust was really good. Great selection on drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Clean, beautifully designed space. I love the open kitchen with the bar seating right there looking into the action- something you don’t see much of unless you’re in a big city. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the service, from entering the restaurant to leaving. It wasn’t welcoming or attentive, especially for how many employees were working/standing around. We had to get up and ask to place our order after who knows how long we waited. The other downside is it’s not very kid/family-friendly, which is surprising for being in the suburbs and for the handful of other tables in there that had babies and toddlers. As adventurous as our one year old is, there was no kids menu or small bites that would be suitable as a meal. We will definitely be back because the pizza is so good. I really hope the service will improve and Franka, along with its employees, will be more welcoming to a couple bringing their child along for a nice dinner. Thank you for bringing a locally-owned restaurant to the area!”

“We have used Sweet Honey since we opened the building. They have been great to work with. We have had to change up schedules as the building use changes and they have always adapted quickly. We also had an emergency call for a grease spill that they were able to handle for us ASAP on a Friday afternoon. No grumbling even though they are always up early and work long days. In addition to the service they provide, they have been helpful in educating us on the target percentages of the tanks so we can take action before there is a problem.”

“We visited on opening day and were very impressed. The restaurant is fresh and clean, warm and well-lit. We started with the Vietnamese Egg Rolls which were savory and hot. The Fried Shrimp roll is unique and delicious with a creamy filling, and the fried chicken wings were lightly battered with a flavorful coating. The Vietnamese Noodle Salad was an interesting mix of flavors and textures coated with the house sauce that was very satisfying and delicious. The owners said the food is authentic Vietnamese. We have no frame of reference for that, but we can say it very good food and a fine addition to the central Iowa dining scene. We'll definitely eat here again!”

“The food here is fantastic. I ordered the Acheke which came with plaintain fries. Plus the price is cheaper than Patience African Cuisine which is the other Liberian restaurant in Des Moines. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because of the owner. He is extremely annoying while a customer is trying to eat in the restaurant. He kept joking around with his friends and kept on saying "stop playing boy." If you want to joke around that's fine, but don't annoy all your customers eating in the restaurant during the process.”

One such place is a small deli called: A Taste of Italy Grocery and Deli ran by Todd. The people are genuine and know their regulars. My combo of beef, provolone and sausage was awesome. “This place is pretty cool. I enjoyed the appetizers and the pizza. We tried the bacon-wrapped dates and the empenadas. Both were delicious. The pizza was also very good. My only issue was that we wanted to try a couple different things- this involved ordering two of these giant rectangular pizzas that come served on cookie sheets with cooling racks. We didn't have enough room at the table in our booth for all the pizza, drinks and plates. It was honestly pretty awkward for the three of us. Took home two half-pizzas and we were all stuffed to the gills. Good leftovers for a few days. Be advised that these things are way more food than you might think because the crust is super thick and buttery. We will go back... might skip the apps and just order one pizza next time.”

“As I rolled in through the drive through, the smell of food cooking was like Jesus had come down to Earth and blessed my nostrils. I closed my eyes for a brief moment, throwing my head back in pure bliss accompanied with joy. A slight drool came out of my mouth just as I was about to order due to how much my mouth watered at the delicious treats which would soon be in my stomach. The person who took my order was an angel, it seemed as though I could see their halo shining brightly through the speaker holes. Their voice was literally angelic, it touched my heart and made it melt as they took my order. When I pulled up to the window, my eyes locked with the short brunette who had taken my order and they gave me a heart-felt smile. They were so adorable and kind as they gave me my food, their name appeared to be Wren from what I could tell on their name tag. Wren was absolutely astonishing at everything they did and was an amazing employee from what I could tell in those few moments. Everything went well, minimal lines, amazing service, wonderful staff members, outstanding food, except there was some girl around the same height as Wren with longer brown hair in a ponytail supposedly named Izzy. This Izzy person seemed to be causing havoc among the staff. Telling people what to do, even if they were doing it just fine. She seemed snobby, unlike Wren. All at this establishment was perfect, besides the Izzy girl. I feel as though she creates tension and annoyance at this place and it would be better if she wasn't there. Other than her, it's marvelous there! 10/10 would recommend, (also Wren definitely deserves a raise.)”
