Juanchorrey Tortilleria

Address: 1301 Watrous Ave, Des Moines, IA 50315, USA

Restaurant

“A Tortilla factory right here in Des Moines? You bet. This was probably one of the best tortillas I’ve ever had and the fresh Burrito was fantastic. Everything is made from scratch. You can stop by and buy chips, tortillas or get lunch. I also bought one of their deserts to take home and their green salsa! If you want authentic Mexican food you need to add this to Your list!”

Mangos Gourmet Paletas

Address: 2005 SE Delaware Ave Suite B, Ankeny, IA 50021, USA

Restaurant

“I got the cheesecake with strawberry topping, Graham cracker crumbs, and caramel drizzle. Yum! I can't resist the chewy texture of the paleta ice cream. This is a nice little place with friendly and helpful staff and nice seating. Was clean as well. Will be back.”

36th Street Tavern

Address: 1300 NW 36th St Suite 101, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“Yummy food! Friendly staff. It happened to be karaoke night. Had a great time. Ate lots of the 36th Street Corn Dip before we took a picture. I had the Honey Garlic Flatbread, and my husband had the Bedda Chedda Stuffed Cheeseburger. Everything came out on time and hot! Jamie was very nice.”

The Simple Greek

Address: 1550 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“The Simple Greek was delicious and well-priced, but I think they were bought out by Garbanzo. They’re now more expensive and the food isn’t as good - for example, the Greek fries used to be perfectly seasoned and I could eat them forever. Now when we order, it feels like there’s too much salt and barely any oregano/parsley/whatever they put on it. The baklava also isn’t the greatest. And the falafel pita is never mixed properly so you get to the bottom and depending on what you order that’s where all your chicken is or onion, what have you. It’s also an extra $4+ for extra protein. The gyro is good though I’ll say. But they need to fix the fries and the prices and mix their dishes up.”

Filet Steakhouse

Address: 1802 N Ankeny Blvd Suite B & C, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“We enjoyed an amazing evening at Filet last week, he had the wedge salad & lobster/steak special (pics) and I had a French dip sandwich (sorry, no pics). All delicious! We have been a couple of times and it’s been fabulous each time. We’re delighted to have Filet in the neighborhood.”

Nonna’s Pizza & Pasta

Address: 1802 N Ankeny Blvd Suite 100A, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“There are not a lot of places like this in central Iowa.. Nonna’s has an amazing variety of pizza slices (highly recommend the Sofia Loren and the Buffalo chicken) with a super kind and helpful staff. Slices range from $4.50 to $5.50 (from what I could see) but that’s pretty standard with the whopping size of the slices. My wife and I ordered three slices between us so we could both have our own “big” slice then split the third. Great pizza!”

fun chinese cuisine

Address: 1875 N Ankeny Blvd Suite 104, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“This is a cool restaurant and the people are really nice! I was offered a sample of the pork and beef, which tasted amazing! But I decided to go with the monthly special of the Fun Rib Bowl and based on that meal I should give it a 2/3 but I’m betting the other dishes are way better and this place deserve a good rating. The rice and vegetables were really good. The sauces had great flavor and the perfect amount of spice. Then the egg was a great addition as well. Now to fun ribs, I think they may have been under cooked because they were really chewy and the tempura was a little under cooked as well, but actually even with it being tough to eat the flavor was pretty good! I will definitely go back and try something else!”

JJ’s Tavern + Grill

Address: 1975 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023, USA

Restaurant

“We visited here as we'd heard positive things, and I had been craving a good fried fish. We started with the White Cheddar Cheese Curds. These may very well been the best we'd had. Lightly breaded, with a nice gooey cheese in the center. She had the JJ's burger; with it and the appetizer at happy hour prices were an incredible value. Sweet potato waffle fries were a delicious surprise. The fried walleye was a massive piece of fish. The breading is a bit thick, but very flavorful. Steak fries, coleslaw, hush puppies and a tasty tartar sauce really made the meal complete. All were great. We treated ourselves to a "desert flight" which were all quite excellent. Staff were very friendly, and Rick (owner) made sure we had all we needed. He shared a great story of how the name of the tavern and grill came to be, so be sure to ask him about it when you visit! Excellent food and deserts - highly recommend!!”

Croz Nest East

Address: 3801 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, IA 50317, USA

Restaurant

“This was a new place for us, and it did not disappoint. We went for lunch, and there were almost no people here at the time. I got the grinder with fries and my wife ordered a small pizza (half off on Fridays). The pizza was good, with plenty of toppings and cheese. The grinder uses a milder sausage than I had expected, but it was tasty and they definitely didn't skimp on the cheese (I had to use a napkin to pick it up soy hands didn't get all cheesy; not a bad thing). The fries were also very good, and I'm pretty picky about fries as far as both taste, and firmness. The meal was also a very good price, especially with the half off deal. Service was good, the people nice as well. Overall, definitely recommend giving this place a try, as it seems like a great place. They even have a limited kids menu, and there was a child here when we went, so they are family friendly at least during the day/dinner time. Update: We took the kids here to eat over the weekend as well. They liked the food, and we tried different items. I highly recommend their chicken parmesan sandwich, as it was extremely good.”

Papa Kern's Cafe

Address: 304 E 30th St #3718, Des Moines, IA 50317, USA

Cafe Restaurant

“Tried this little small business for brunch this morning and we were very impressed. I highly recommend the farmers eggs with a little hot sauce, I added mushroom and jalapeno and they didn't even add any cost to my meal for it. Our waitress was handling a room full of customers with grace and efficiency. Coffee was good, the biscuits and gravy my husband ordered was good. We were shocked at how economical our little date out was at the end. We can't wait to go back!”

Kum & Go

Meal takeaway Restaurant

“The store and bathroom were both very clean and the service was friendly. I was a little hungry so I bought some food here and was quite surprised with the quality and price when matched against other gas station food. I really wish we had some of these stores where I live.”

Scornovacca's Altoona

Address: 2437 Adventureland Dr, Altoona, IA 50009, USA

Restaurant

“We are traveling through and got this to-go for our dinner this evening. I ordered the small create your own pizza with double hamburger and pepperoni and my husband got the French Dip with onion rings. The pizza was OK, it looks great but I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce, it has a strange aftertaste like sweet yet a green pepper taste too, but it was still ok... The hamburger needs more seasoning, but the pizza was cooked well and the crust was fantastic and had a great flavor with perfect amount of cheese. The French Dip was meh, he said the bread was incredible, but the meat was very dry and crumbly and lacked any sense of flavor, so major disappointment! However, the onion rings were crispy and fresh, and so delicious! The staff was kind, accommodating and prompt, and that is incredibly appreciated, after a long day of traveling. Food was ready when they said it would be and that is awesome and appreciated as well!”

Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack, & Hotel

Address: 1 Prairie Meadows Dr, Altoona, IA 50009, USA

Restaurant

“The continental breakfast was top notch! It's a restaurant and you can order anything off the menu. Way better than a waffle maker and cold cereal that's typical of other continental breakfasts. Very clean casino and very clean room. I would definitely stay here again.”

Texas Roadhouse

Address: 2363 Adventureland Dr, Altoona, IA 50009, USA

Restaurant

“We did make reservations to this fairly recent open Texas Roadhouse for Monday night at 6:15pm.The restaurant was very busy. They got us in at our time and were greeted by friendly staff from the time we walked through doors. Staff followed us to our seat with fresh rolls as soon as we were seated. We had a very awesome server who made the experience even better. Our food was so tasty, from my salad to my country fried steak. The grandkids enjoyed steak tips and mini burgers. My son said his steak was perfectly cooked. Mango margarita was fabulous We will definitely visit often.”

Casa Agave Mexican Cuisine

Address: 3131 8th St SW, Altoona, IA 50009, USA

Restaurant

Zaika

Address: 3209 Henry St SW, Bondurant, IA 50035, USA

Restaurant

“Clean and food is tasty. The meals are made with fresh ingredients not from a jar so the cost reflects that. I ended up with chicken tikka Marsala and the flavor was smooth and silky and not salty like ever other American meal you have. Indian meals the spicier the more flavorful. This place has a fell of we are giving it everything we have to make our dream come true and you can taste it in the food. It flavor is a pure and simple not overly complex flavor of bringing home Indian cuisine to the dinners with a nice smile.”

Flame Bondurant

Address: 103 Main St SE, Bondurant, IA 50035, USA

Restaurant

“Delicious place we stumbled upon while in Bondurant! The food was quickly prepared and delicious. Victoria the manager was personable, and helpful. The torta was made on fresh bread and the birria tacos were not too cheesy. We were both impressed by the menu and savory options.”

Flaming Wok

Address: 96 Paine Cir SE Suite 6, Bondurant, IA 50035, USA

Restaurant

“Happy to find a decent Chinese place in the area! The store was clean with numerous areas to sit and attentive servers. My husband and I tried pan-fried pork dumplings and the lunch size serving of orange chicken with steamed rice, egg drop soup, and egg rolls. The orange chicken had a nice crunch to it as well as some spiciness. The egg drop soup was peppery with little pieces of carrot and corn in it. I would order both of those again! The pork dumpling appetizer was okay but not the best I've had in the area. These dumplings are fried only on the bottom and not all the way around. I will definitely be back to try out more of the menu! PS For the gluten intolerant folks: while we were there, I did hear someone ask about gluten-free options. Unfortunately they are unable to guarantee there is no gluten cross-contamination.”

Kum & Go

Address: 5970 Morning Star Ct, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327, USA

Meal takeaway Restaurant

“This is one of the cleanest Kum and Go I've been to. Iowa winter can be very messy. Customers tracking in snow and dirt. However, this location is spotless. The parking and sidewalk have been cleared and salted. The inside was very clean. This location has the newest fountain station. It's all automated and very easy to use. There's a wide variety of drinks to quench your thirst. Highly recommending this location. Make sure to say hello to Mikayla and Todd”

the Wet Spot Bar and Grill

Address: 100 Brown St, Runnells, IA 50237, USA

Restaurant

“This was the first visit to this establishment in Runnells, IA. My friend and I rode our bikes around and decided to make a stop here, not knowing what to expect. Things quickly went from unexpected to fabulous. From the top notch bar tender, Danielle, to the owners, Craig and Sandra, this place became very addictive fast. We were planning on leaving after one beer, then we decided to stay there from the pure enjoyment this place and its people had to offer. Craig the owner, suggested I try his homemade Burrito, I did, and was really impressed. The food and prices were great. The drinks (mixed drinks and beer) were also outstanding. We talked with both owners for a while and some of the others that were in the bar. The atmosphere, setup and parking were all very nice. The parking lot itself was made to accommodate motorcycles specifically, but there are other spots for cars also. I've been to many different nightclubs and bars in the Central Iowa area, and this one deserves a visit from anyone who is curious. You wont be sorry. Thanks Craig, Sandra and Danielle!”

Morgans U Of R Bar & Grill

Address: 103 Brown St, Runnells, IA 50237, USA

Restaurant

“Runnells might be a little out of the way but it is worth the drive. We got 2 different types of pizza, an order of sweet corn nuggets, a couple of deluxe grill cheese sandwiches and a cheese burger. The food is made to order and comes out hot and fresh. The environment is fun and the employees are extremely friendly and make you feel welcome.”
