“Head to the shack in back not the big building on premises to get this famous Maine donut. Potato donuts are denser and fantastic. There are no bad flavors, however the chocolate sea salt, the lemon, and cinnamon sugar are my go to donuts. The only drawback of this location is a lack of seating, and there is no covered seating. So being able to sit down and have a donut here is weather dependent (unlike the one in Portland). Regardless, these donuts are delicious and a must try.”

“WOW! SO GLAD WE STOPPED IN HERE! If you like craft beer, unique pizzas, and friendly people, then you must stop by and try this brew pub. The outside of the restaurant is rather unassuming. But, once you walk in, you notice the beams, touches of modern wood work, and the friendly bar keeps and immediately feel welcomed. We initially went in to try a flight of beer and kill some time. We ordered the English Style Bitter Ale, Trestle IPA, Watermelon Sour, and Blueberry Delight Milkshake IPA. We both really enjoyed the Trestle and the Blueberry IPA tremendously. The sour was good but keep in mind sour beers are an acquired taste. For a sour, it was tastefully crafted. The English Bitter IPA didn't knock our socks off or anything but it wasn't undrinkable either. As we reviewed the eclectic pizzas on their menu, we figured that we only live once so why not try something unusual. We were pleased that you can order a whole pizza and do half one way and half another. We tried the "Smoked Pulled Pork, Gouda, Mac & Cheese, Jalapeno Cornbread" on one side and the "Maine Blueberries, Ricotta, Roasted Shallot, Lemon Zest" on the other half. Both pizza halves far exceeded what we expected! The pulled pork...pizza was packed with numerous complementary flavors and textures. The Blueberry pizza was rich and creamy with a smooth savory base from the shallots highlighted with subtle but bright pops of lemon zest to reduce the heaviness. The crust was airy and crispy on the edges without being too chewy. Being brave and trying these pizzas was fantastically rewarding! It may sound cliche, but we liked the blueberry pizza paired with the Blueberry Delight IPA. The pulled pork Gouda pizza paired decently with the Trestle IPA as well.”

“Nice to have her back and the place open again. We have been going to this same location since Jane opened it as Sullie's Pub & Grill many years ago. It was smaller and excellent then and it is much bigger and nearing excellence again, having just opened a month ago. She ran the original pub in a single family home converted into a restaurant and bar. The food was excellent and we brought many a friend a relative to dine there. Sometime, in the early teens she sought to expand the place, ran into a bunch of hurdles, we believe, and she moved on. Then Woody's took over and expanded the restaurant and parking lot. Covid took its toll and Woody moved on, and another owner operated it with the same sports bar atmosphere. It languished when he could not staff it. Now Jane is back in the saddle again. Renovations have been made, the interior spruced up, and a bit of a woman's touch has been added to the place, as well as an Irish flavor to the menu choices. The addition, which was never fully utilized by the interim operators has now been converted to dining space, which I suspect will be fully utilized once the word gets out, the weather improves, and the summer tourist invade Maine again. Our first meals were good, our subsequent ones even better as the opening kinks were worked out. Funny story: my wife thought they messed up her Haddock Rachel sandwich and they had given her a haddock dinner instead. As it turned out, on closer inspection, the piece of haddock was so big, it completely obliterated the normal sized bun beneath it. Last but not least, the wait staff and bartenders are very pleasant and accommodating and Jane can be seen pitching in We look forward to many more IPAs, Margaritas, and fine meals at 38 West. We have no qualms about bringing family and friends along when the occasion arises. We wish Jane and her team all the success and accolades that they deserve. “Stopped at Definitive beer garden on a cloudy afternoon and was the perfect way to spend a less than perfect beach day. Beers are excellent (I tried multiple sours, a Kolsch, and their hard seltzer). There is food there as well and my lobster roll and apple slaw were tasty. Definitely more my style of place to hang as I’m not much for the boardwalk and ending up staying there for several hours and even went back the next day. Derek is awesome! So chill, knowledgeable, and helpful. I thank Definitive for making my short Maine trip awesome!”

“Was driving around looking for on-street parking to get to the beach - meters were right in front of this spot. Perfect. Noticed a small line, which is always a hint of a good food stop so I hopped in line just before 8am. Great quick breakfast sandwich, but get here early. Even on a Saturday morning post Labor Day/basically out of tourist season the line got deep fast after 8am. Staff member was outside taking orders for people who knew what they wanted to speed up the line (inside is very tight). Ordered a sausage egg and cheese with a black ice tea to go. Under $9 and 10 minute wait. Proceeded to walk 2 minutes to the beach and enjoy my breakfast in peace. For the price, quality, and proximity to the beach this was a solid find.”

“Food was AMAZING!!! Food was fresh, and authentic. Atmosphere was fun. Service was ok, people were nice but busy and not enough staff (sign of the times). As long as you aren't in a hurry this was such a great place to go. The old owners kept it dark, this place is bright and vibrant and again, the food was simply amazing. They had one waiter, one person bringing food out and a bartender. Hard to get help so even though they were short staffed they did pretty good and kept a positive attitude while serving. Honestly I can't wait to go back.”
