“Great quality food made with LOVE! Wonderful family business with great service to match. I really enjoyed the salmon sliders.. by far my favorite on the menu. The salmon nuggets are nice and juicy and comes with so much flavor. Definitely recommend trying this place.”

“Edit: customer service reached out after my order and I was given partial refund as well as a $10 to try again. So I’m adding one star to the original two-star review, for good customer service. ————————————— Was really excited to try this place… but man what a disappointment. The rice is rock hard (so definitely was cooked a few days ago), there are exactly *3* pieces of arugula, and 2 pieces of thin cucumber. The the chicken was dry. The only thing that’s generously portioned in my dish was sauce.. sigh.”

“UPDATE: it's probably my fault, because I'm just slow to grasp things that sometimes, but The kitchen and menu in this place are the sleeper hit of the century. Had one of the best chicken sandwiches I ever ate, and discovered that the locals have been keeping this place a secret ( I understand fully), The recommend that if you go here, try anything coming out of their kitchen. It is real Americana bar food, but high end. Now, onto my regular review...... Working class Watering Hole owned and operated by local people who like local people who appreciate local people that I mention local people? Cheap drinks, good company, pool tables, a jukebox and people who won't call the cops if you have an occasional smoke outside. What more could you ask for? Don't Front, you know you need a place like this. When it's time to get down and dirty and have some hard drinking fun, or sit down next to some true Burly men and women and learn what the working-class Oakland experience is all about, stop by. You won't be disappointed”

“Such a wonderful, authentic, cozy, sushi dinning experience. This place was where the ever-so-popular Judoku Japanese restaurant was. It's is now the place where if you really enjoy, like I do, indulging in fresh, authentic, sashimi, and other well prepared authentic dishes, then you must try this place! Master-Chef, Jun is a wonderful and friendly host. He very much wants you to have the best experience when you dine-in. That's exactly what we got and you will too. We come here when we are visiting from San Jose where we live. We enjoy the food, and mainly we enjoy being taken care of by the staff and they are attentive and friendly. We always like to order the Sashimi Omakase, mainly because it's the better choice when you want to eat fresh cuts of fish, that are so mouth-watering, and delectable, what more do I need to say? We also order very tasty sides, like Chicken Karaage, Tenpura, Agedashi Tofu, and the kids usually order Combo Bento or other items, but if you really like Nigiri Sushi and/or Sashimi this is why you will want to come here. We recently celebrated my mom's 94th birthday and she really enjoyed the sashimi and Jun's hospitality. We very much, highly recommend you come to visit and indulge in a very authentic Japanese eating experience which will surely remind you of, if you've ever lived, or been to a small restaurant in Japan.”

“I would like to give a HUGE SHOUTOUT to Ernesto who works at the meat counter at Lucky’s Alameda. A few days before Christmas, I came in to Lucky’s to order my prime rib for my Christmas dinner like I have been for the past 10 years. I didn’t recognize the employee at the meat counter, but I still continued to place my order with him. He handed me a notebook to put in all my info and the size of my prime rib. The employee checked it and said ok, your order will be ready to be picked up as you indicated here. I was happy and went on my way. Longer story short, Ernesto, out of the kindness of his heart and the greatest meat counter employee Lucky’s will ever have kept trying to contact me to tell me that they didn’t have any more prime ribs and was not getting anymore in and the other guy should have told me this. Anyway, Ernesto, being the gentleman that he is and passionate about his awesome customer service, got me my prime rib from another Lucky’s on his way into work that Saturday morning. He called me to tell me he had it and when I was ready to come pick it up. Ernesto saved my Christmas dinner for my entire family! Lucky’s Alameda is LUCKY to have Ernesto at their meat counter! I will always go to Ernesto at Lucky’s Alameda for all my meat needs! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Ernesto! Robyn, an extremely pleased customer!”

“This is such a great place. It's design is so cute. Its a train station. It has ample seating for everyone. You always see the locals here. The food and pastries are home made. When visiting I always got moms oatmeal. I tried the chocate croissants and the cheese Danish, amazing. I tried their green monster drink. It is hethy and delicious. Everything is made when ordered so it is very fresh. The service is outstanding, some of the best customer service you can get these days. Overall rating is excellent!!”

“Macondo Colombian Fusion is the ideal restaurant for many different occasions. I think food is a way to express love and share with others, I love being able to bring a taste of Colombia in the Bay Area anywhere I go. It’s hard to describe each ingredient because they’re characterized by the richness in diversity but one think I can tell it’s all their options are made with amazing freshest ingredients. Here’s a picture of the “Quesabirria Arepa” —> Cheesy Birria with pickled red onion, Carrots, Cilantro and Consommé. There’s different options for breakfast , lunch or dinner. They also have empanadas 🤤, salads and NATURAL juice!! Please do to yourself a flavor and stop by to try out this amazing food, the problem it’s that after you try it you’ll want to go all the time.”

“Hands down the best hot dog I’ve ever had. I got the Jimmy Rollins (with a veggie dog) and it was packed with flavor. The sauce was perfect with the toppings. You would never have known it was a veggie dog! Hot dog and crispy tater tots on a chilly day, what more could you ask for? Highly recommend.”

“Cookies from Oh Naturel are bursting with flavor and deliciousness! I'm delighted to find a local vegan baker when I don't have time to bake myself. Vanessa even delivered the cookies to our door. Highly recommended.”

“Aside from the amazing humans that run and work at this joint, this is one of the best east coast pizzas that you can have. Literally go 1-2/week! Their 2 slice deal is 🔥 and Sweet Lil Pig pizza is amazing! If they have cookies also snag one 🤤”

“So looking Forward to a good baked chicken restaurant. The spices and taste were right on but that darn chicken was over cooked. Granted, I ordered this at 7:45 at night But Hey, don't send me over cooked chicken. It took me a while to figure out whether or not the garlic mashed potatoes were fresh or pre mixed. Pretty sure they were pre mixed. With lots of garlic in it. In the end the taste was good. The baked beans were over the top wonderful and that's where the 4 stars came from.oh and the bread was AWESOME!!!! I am gluten free but had to take a bite to review and it would change me to a bread queen forever! I am still on the hunt for a good roast chicken!”

“Neighborhood Japanese food. Quality and atmosphere were okay but the food didn’t taste authentic. We ordered a couple maki rolls, Ton Katsu, gyoza, and miso soup. Might go back again if I’m craving Japanese but don’t want to travel outside the neighborhood.”

“Great experience. The service was top notch. The food was well-presented. I like my foods a bit more spiced up, so it could feel a bit bland if you are like me, but I still enjoyed it. I love all the little touches like the visitor note they get you when you pay the bill.”

“Best taqueria in Alameda! The simple ingredients they use is what makes this place so great. I’ve been coming here since 1999 and the super burrito is the GO TO! I’ve tried their tacos and quesadillas and those are also incredible but you’ll never go wrong with anything here. The staff are always super polite and they make you feel taken care of. I do frequent other Mexican restaurants in Alameda but when I want a burrito, Mi Burrito never fails!”

“Hooray for Rico Rico Vegano! The taco tortillas are a stunning hot pink- I LOVE them. The vibrant colored food is so fun to eat. Not only is this food stunning to look at but it’s also incredibly delicious. Sometimes vegan restaurants can miss the mark on flavor but Rico Rico Vegano has nailed it. I could eat their cauliflower tacos every day! I met Rico (Ricardo) and he’s super friendly and wants to know what his customers think of the food. Just a great guy and a great restaurant. So happy about this new local spot!!! Bonus points: all their packaging is compostable!”

“The carnitas and el pastor were good enough to make me want to try the chicken and beef barbacoa. All four tasted pretty similar. Fresh ingredients and satisfying, but not exciting enough to want to come back for at least a month or two.”

“Bagels always taste good, coffee is good if you’re wanting a basic cup, but I had a giant hair in my nova lox! Was smushed right on the tomato and hanging out of it- gross! Everyone working had dark hair except one employee. She seemed flustered when she kept asking people what was on their order and asked me what other sandwich I had aside from what I ordered (only had one sandwich). Start with keeping all your hair pulled back, including the little side bits, and breath. I’ve never had any issue here so that’s why it’s 3 stars.”

“There's beauty in simplicity. I love the esthetic choice of displaying jars of seeds on the shelves. Just like books, these seeds tell stories. I had not eaten deer in years. I was excited to try their deer sticks and they didn't disappoint. The dipping sauce was a nice touch. I appreciated the time they took to mark gluten free items. I had no issues of cross-contamination eating here but I'm also not as sensitive as others. I was thrilled to be able to eat a waffle in a restaurant. My husband said the blue corn bread was incredible!! The hominy was a lovely savory moment to balance out the sweet. It was different than the way I prepare hominy. I'll have to experiment in the future. I don't understand why more places don't offer refreshing non-alcoholic drinks. I could swim in the blackberry hibiscus tea. We also ordered the strawberry sumac limeade. Both were pleasing to the palate, perfect for warmer weather. We ended lunch with the Mayan amaranth chocolate cake. If you are obsessed with chocolate, don't skip. It was one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. Super rich and I couldn't believe it was gluten free. Can't wait to return. It was worth the 60 mile drive.”
