“Cheese steak is an interesting word because it conjures up different images based on where you are or where you're from. In the DMV you're more likely to hear it called a steak and cheese to differentiate it from its nearby Philadelphian compatriot. Tokoa makes a great sandwich, but it's neither representative of the local culinary treat or its northern neighbor. The seeded sesame bun toasted in garlic puts a very unique spin on things. I had the medium jalapeno cheese steak and it was delicious. A good meat-to-bread ratio, hot, and perfectly melted cheese. The fact that I had to pay extra for tomatoes told me that this was no regular DMV sandwich but the fact that only one sandwich on the menu comes with Whiz tells me that it's also not a Philadelphia competitor. It is uniquely Tokoa and very satisfying. Also, the fries are some of the best I've had recently. Lightly salted, very crisp. I'd go back just for them. And the strawberry lemonade took it all on home. Great place to go to and to quote the Terminator, "I'll be back."”

“Coming from Philly, these hot dogs really bring me back to some memorable flavors. The “All the Way” dog was perfect. The chili was perfect for a hot dog. The potato bun is pillow soft. The best part of the hot dog was the hot dog! Perfect snap when you bite into it and great beef taste! I was only planning to eat one but had to order another one on the spot! I also ordered some To Go dogs for the family. The dogs traveled well and my wife loved them! Other fun pluses were the Herr’s sour cream and onion potato chips and the ice-cold Yoohoo Thanks Chris for bringing some great flavor into DC! Can’t wait to visit again!”

“Today I ordered 2 chicken cheese sandwich 1 combo. When I got home I had 2 steak cheese sandwich, we don’t eat beef. I immediately called them 4 times and got no answer, I finally left a message. I didn’t go back to the store because I live 10 miles away. So disappointed we just through the sandwiches away. One thing else I will say is I been going there twice a week and they never mope the dirty floor where they want you to sit and eat. I also said something to them about that 2 days ago but when I came in today the floors still hasn’t been cleaned. What else is not getting cleaned. Today 12/14 ticket # 33.I thought I had found a good place for a chicken cheese sandwich. Left my name and number on their answer machine. No call back.”

“I found this restaurant on Google since I was visiting the area. It hasn't even had its official grand opening yet (this weekend). The owner/chef Chris was very kind, patient, and passionate about what he's doing. After talking with him, it seems like this restaurant is not only about food but healing the community and introducing healthier options to his community, specifically Black Americans. The menu is fairly extensive and you could come here at least once a week and probably not get too bored. Pricing is pretty average I'd say for a vegan restaurant. In terms of food quality, it's very good. It's not the best vegan soul food I've had but it was well worth it. The only other con is that because it's still early on, service was a bit on the slower side given that there was a dinner rush and limited staff in the back. As he hires more staff, I think this will not be an issue. Well worth a try for anyone in the area who especially likes to support small businesses.”

“Everything was so delicious! i forgot to take a before picture but I got right into it. The food is beautiful in presentation. Great customer service. Meals are made to order, fresh. We had the Caribbean bowl, mushroom tenders, fries, and my brother ordered a sub(not sure which one) but he devoured it. I’ll definitely back. “I walked in here one day after buying some Jamaican food, and noticed they didn't sell any IPAs, which was a bummer. I'm a huge craft beer fan, I'm a brewer and with this place being so close to my home it was a disappointment to only see american pilsners in stock. The guy at the register noticed I didn't seem to find what I was looking for and offered to get some Dogfish Head beers in from his supplier the next week. And to my surprise, he certainly did. And bought some other IPAs too. He said that he tries to keep in stock what his customers want. So if you live near by, give these guys a try. They won't let you down. Huge props for keeping your word.”

“I LOVE me a good steak and I am so happy to share that you can get a GREAT steak at GrillMarx in College Park. I've been to some of the best Steakhouses in the DMV, BLT, The Palm, Charlie Palmer's, Morton's and so on. Yes, I'm about to go there; the steaks at GrillMarx are at that same level but at a lower price point which is always a win win. I had the Kona Steak and it was fabulous. Cooked and seasoned to perfection! But let's take a step back because there is sooo much more to this restaurant then just the steaks. When we arrived GrillMarx we were greeted by Allison who was great. Her energy and vibe set the tone for the rest of the evening. It was refreshing to see a hostess that was not overwhelmed or distracted. One who actually had a smile on their face and made you feel welcome. Thanks Allison! Our waitress Casey took the handoff from Allison and proceeded to take our dining experience to another level. Her attention to detail and ability to address our every need, coupled with another positive attitude and great smile added to our overall experience. She guided us thru the menu and was flawless with her execution of being our culinary guide for the evening. Thanks Casey!!! So back to the food. Must haves on the menu, the mac & cheese and cesar salad were both on point. I already mentioned the steaks. Dessert was great too. Had the Apple Crisp which exceeded my expectations. The drinks where also top notch Their take on the Moscow Mule with Glenmorangie was exceptional and their Smoked Old Fashion is a game changer. “Stopped in here today because my car was making a weird grinding sound. I thought maybe there was debris trapped underneath it but I couldn't see anything. The convenience store attendant walked me out to talk to the mechanic who said they would put it up on the lift and take a look underneath. It was VERY busy with every bay full but they got my car in there pretty quickly (~20 min). I was waiting on the sidewalk in 90+ degree heat, the convenience store attendant came out to offer me a seat inside in the A/C. So nice! Turned out I had some branches stuck underneath the car which they were able to remove easily and see there was no damage. Best part- the mechanic refused to take any money for the repair! He just asked me to please come back sometime for an oil change, tire rotation, or other service. You bet- I will DEFINITELY go back to this Shell station!!!”
