“Tried this place out for the first time for dine-in. The wait was not too bad as there was only one person working. My Husband had the Breakfast wrap which had potatoes, eggs, cheese and his choice of bacon for the meat in the wrap, the potatoes as a side was made by the chef. He said it was very bland and the Texas Pete was watered down. I had the French toast. Only draw back on the French toast, it was made very heavy with nutmeg, no choice on how your eggs are prepared nor your sides as the chef makes the choice for you even though they offer side selections. You do however get to choose which meat you would like. Not recommended for large parties as seating is extremely limited and the restroom is located through the kitchen and not available for the public. To-go orders would be your best option.”

“Fantastic little stop for food!! Food was excellent. We got burgers, fries, onion rings, a root beer float, tea (both sweet and unsweetened), and some bowls of ice cream. Everything was delicious and the owners were friendly! We plan to bring the family next time. The place was clean and well stocked. It's across the street from a hanging rope bridge that was fun to walk across and take pictures.”

“We had the Bilstad's Beignets and they're really good. We've had Louisiana beignets (Café du Monde) and Texas beignets (there are several places in Houston area). These are up there in terms of texture, softness, and being very airy. The best thing about the beignets are you can reheat them and they still tasted great. Other places, you'd have to eat them right away. Can't reheat them or freeze them. After we reheat them, we sprinkle with more powdered sugar as they tend to melt when they're stored too long in the bag as well as being in the toaster oven. $8 for 6 beignets. My youngest LOVES these so much. Would highly recommend.”

“I’m in town visiting family and they told I had to try this bakery and they were absolutely right! Not only is the desserts and ice cream delicious but also the food! We got The BB (bacon jam and bacon grilled cheese ) and The Scratch Club to eat,the mango orange sorbet, and 1/2 Cookie Monster 1/2 crazy for cookie ice cream, and one strawberry cake and one Cookies and cream cake to go! “The Battlefield Country store is everything you would expect from a country store. The aisles are filled with packaged containers filled with deliciousness. A great example is the powdered cheese that can be used as a seasoning or sprinkled over popcorn, which is also carried in just the next alsie. While there don't miss out on lunch! The Battlefield Country store has the largest sandwiches around. Be sure to check the specials before ordering. On this visit the special was the roast beef sandwich with onion soup dipping sauce. The sandwich large enough that the two of us struggled to finish it.”

They have several pastries but there are rooms for improvements on their pastry quality and selections. “Once in a while, I will mention that the world would be a better place if there were more cafes, restaurants, eateries, or establishments offering food that transcends all of our prejudices, indiscretions, or immature forms of nationalism .... well, this is one of those places. The soufle pancake is ETHEREAL and HEAVENLY. I can find very few words to describe the experience. There is absolutely zero fancy dessert cafe or $$$$ restaurant that serves dessert like this in the entire VA-MD-DC metro area. Truly Japanese in flavor and quality. But be prepared, it is so good, it can be a 35-40 minute wait if you order during their busy hours.”
