“Came in from South Louisiana to visit my son and he had been telling me about Ruby J’s Restaurant. We were able to meet Mr. Eric and Mrs. Deborah Brown, the owners. The food was delicious! I had the fried chicken that was to die for. Ms Deborah gave me a taste of her sweet potato casserole to try as an option for my side. It is exactly like my mom’s recipe. My son had the Mac n Cheese and wings. We even ordered the all time summer favorite Kool-aid. It’s the simple things in life! Everything they cook and make you can taste the love! The customer service is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. There is an area with TV’s and if you sit towards the back they have this nice jazz playing. Love the big windows that you can see the outside. I was amazed that they had only been open since the beginning of 2023. Make sure to read and learn the history about Mrs. Ruby J. If you live in Milwaukee or in town visiting it is a must to try this cafe family restaurant. You can park for free diagonally across the street. It is a delicious experience that you will want to come back to try the specials and more of the menu. I highly recommend Ruby J’s Restaurant. “Food 4.5/10 Service 5/10 Aesthetic/ambience: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Music: 10/10 Maybe it's because they just started brunch they are learning the ins and outs of how to make it more efficient. Who knows🤷🏽♀️. My waitress was really sweet but she did not listen. It could have been that the music was too high which I can understand. I love that they do unlimited mimosas for a decent price but I would recommend just serving the bottle of champagne with a pitcher of juice. Only because our server had lots of tables and we waited at least 20 minutes in between drinks even after we asked for refills. Was offered water we never got. Originally I asked for 2 appetizers and one side but if they didn't have the side available I just wanted to try the ONE entree instead. Came back to let me know it was not available so we proceeded to get the entree I preferred. However due to lack of listening or maybe hearing me (again I don't know) I ended paying for the one entree and basically my original order (apps and sides). I did not say anything about it because again our server was sweet I just would've wished she was more attentive. Next time I might just sit at the bar so I can get faster service. Although one of the bartenders has a slightly nasty attitude. It's a beautiful establishment though. Hoping a better structure or game plan for staff helps with more enhanceed efficiency. I would return again if things got better for sure!!”

“Absolutely fantastic! We were only in town a couple days and when we came here for breakfast our first day we knew we NEEDED to come back for our second morning as well. The breakfast burritos were delicious - I had the veggie and my husband had the classic. Both were so fresh and flavorful! We also each got a pastry for the road, which were again perfection. I wish we could have tried everything in the bakery case! Everyone was so genuinely friendly, and their patio out back was cozy, clean, and an ideal spot to start our day. 10/10 will be back next time we’re in town!”

When I got there, the manager gave word and they assembled the fish Sandwich I had ordered and quickly made the rootbeer freeze fresh!!! I was in and out within 5 minutes. Now that is fresh fast service!!!!!!!! They trusted me so far as to have the food Ready to assemble before I even paid them.. “Had a late lunch/early dinner in what is now called Dorsey's (the son of Settlement Inn owners took over and renamed the place). This fish wrap was pretty tasty, though I would recommend they take it up a notch by warming the wrap beforehand. What I received instead was warm contents in a cold wrap. Also, the homemade chips, which are usually quite good, were under- cooked leaving many of them in raw soggy potato form. A bit more attention to quality, details, and customer service would make all the difference.”

“A friend and I stopped to get a morning latte at approximately 6:45 am on Friday. Thank goodness my friend was with me as I had no idea how to navigate the drive through and there were no signs to help. You must first be in the far right lane to drive past a window and around the building to the order board. You then drive back around the building in the left lane to pay and pick up your order. Then you have to cross through the lane of cars in the right lane (the one trying to get around the building to order) to get out of the parking lot! It was a mess. Great coffee but you need to go early or late to avoid the back up caused by the crazy drive through.”
