“Look no further than Hooked Seafood and Raw Bar for your next oceanic craving. Upon entry, Hooked has a bright and clean atmosphere that feels refreshing and vibrant. I was greeted at the door immediately, and there was no wait for seating although the restaurant appeared full. At the table, the menu I was given included several expected choices in a seafood restaurant. However, there were quite a few standouts that seemed to have their own originality. I find the “Raw Bar”ability to order shellfish by the pound convenient, as you can opt for a larger portion than the entree. I was served bread until my meal arrived, and the food was prepared within a reasonably quick pace (about 13 or so minutes). Once it arrived, my lobster roll was packed with meat. The fish tacos had a mango salsa with lime that was to die for. The steamed shrimp by the pound were piping hot, flavorful, and served with the classic cocktail sauce, lemon, and melted butter. There was also a massive selection of alcohol on display, as well as an extensive cocktail menu and draft list. They even had a few “lottery” bottles for the hardcore enthusiasts. Falcon Smash is always my go to, and it paired wonderfully with seafood. At the end of my experience, I had been greeted by the owner and the general manager before leaving. Their need to ensure that I had a pleasant visit was a true sign that a local owned Hanover business is here to stay. So if you find yourself missing the beach but not wanting to make the drive, take a trip to Hooked Seafood and Raw Bar instead. You’ll be glad you did.”

The wings were really good, got them extra crispy with honey bbq and Parmesan garlic — way bigger than the wings you’d get at Buffalo Wild Wings. The garlic bread was amazing, could be a little more crispy but it was still awesome. The crinkle cut fries were a little soft, they could’ve been a little crispier but they also had a good amount of sauce options and seasonings (including amazing old bay). Other than that, while you can dine in, it’s a narrow table against the wall so I would recommend you do take out instead. My new go to wings place in the DMV.”

“Big, bright, and clean location with its new construction! New staff are learning the service but doing a great job of cooking up a lot of orders when I stopped by Saturday afternoon. I had the featured meal (chorizo quesadilla) with a kale-apple salad. It was fresh made, tasty ingredients, and a fair price. The peanut butter smoothie with whey protein was cold and tasty (felt like a premium drink that I can't make at home). The mobile app made it fun and easy for me to place this order and pick it up within 10 min. I'll be back!”

“What a fabulous Saturday night evening spent here. I’m dog sitting for dear friends and found myself solo, hungry, and wanting to eat out in Bailey’s crossroads / Columbia Forest. I happened to come here this morning to grab a cappuccino to go (which was fabulous) and decided venture here for dinner as well. I cannot wait to bring my friends back here and try more items. As it is Ramadan, there was a lovely dinner buffet option (as well as a la carte) but I went with the buffet and had the opportunity to try many of their lentil and vegetable options paired with a fantastic selection of domestic and Ethiopian beers (drafts and bottles). I topped off the night with their Ethiopian spiced tea while listening to live music. Service was beyond phenomenal. Everyone here, staff and patrons, are here to enjoy each other’s company.”

“Leaving an early review with intentions to return in the near future and update 👍 this spot has great potential on a tough street to do business on in the valley view area. Historically restaurants have had their challenges on this street in particular with a 1-way in / out. So good luck. We visited and they did not yet have their alcohol license and were also out of several items. We waited a bit long on our food but regardless, service was friendly, helpful and positive. And the ingredients seemed fresh and well prepared. We tried many of the dishes and didn’t have complaints on taste or presentation. Next time we return, we will sit at the bar and try again!”

“Reviewing for the restaurant. The Maridor is a game-changer for the Grandin neighborhood. It offers one of the most pleasant dining spaces in Roanoke. The inside is beautiful, while the patio and lawn are inviting and lovely. The food is simply phenomenal. The steam baked oysters were a revelation to me, a wonderful alternative to the typical raw serving (they have those too). The BBQ shrimp is excellent and you'll want to get more bread to soak up the spicy, delicious sauce. The Garlic Noodles (with beef), were balanced and really great. Service is solid and you can expect the chef to come check on you. They are very welcoming to children, as we've brought our toddler multiple times now. The rear lawn offers a nice, mostly enclosed place for kids to run and play, while the parents can relax on the patio within eye shot of the entire lawn. Cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced ($8-12 range if I recall) compared to similar establishments. You might be looking for an alternative since another local, root-oriented Grandin restaurant has seen significant decline recently. The Maridor is your answer!”
